"The fight that I wanna fight" - Shark Tank's Mark Cuban on prioritizing time with his kid

Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban, in a recent interview with WFAA, talked about how the most important battle of his life. He constantly tries to fight for time with his children. He has built an empire as a billionaire Investor and an owner of the Dallas Mavericks, which is what has made him accustomed to navigating high-stakes decisions and intense competitions.

During the interview, Mark shared that he is often courtside with his son whenever the Mavericks are playing. He says these moments are what he cherishes the most. Mark is a father to three children and acknowledges the challenges that arise while maintaining strong relationships with his children.

The fact that they are growing up and their lives are becoming more independent, the difficulties of having them all together at the same time is a tough task. His oldest daughter is 21 years old and the younger two children are teenagers right now. Explaining the same, he says,

"They’re teenagers, and my oldest is 21. It’s a fight just to get them to spend time with me, as anybody with teenagers knows. And that’s the fight I want to fight—that’s most important to me."

Mark Cuban, the Shark Tank investor, and his dedication to his family is evident in how he integrates them into his heavy schedule professionally. Talking about the same in the interview, Mark said that his son accompanies him to numerous basketball games.

The two share the experience of being close to the sport and the Mavericks organization. “I see that your son joins you at a lot of games now,” the interviewer noted. Cuban responded by saying, "As many as I can.”

Even though basketball is a bonding experience between Mark and his kids, the Shark Tank investor says that his priorities are beyond the court. He then talked about the possibility of him running for the President of the United States, as this idea has been speculated about in the past.

However, Mark says that these ambitions are nothing when he compares his role as a father. Elaborating, he explained,

"You know, I know you asked me about running for president. When it’s all said and done and I’m hopefully 105 years old or 115 years old, on my last breath, when I look back, I don’t want it to be, 'Oh wow, I was president.' I want those last memories to be about my kids and being there in their moments."

This mindset that the Shark Tank investor has towards his children, indicates his philosophy about success and fulfillment. He indicates that wealth and influence can be a huge deal, but they should not be the ultimate reason for living a life.

For him, true success is about being present for the very important milestones that his children are going through and their joys as well as disappointments.

Continuing the conversation, Mark also revealed that his son had a hard time adjusting to the recent trade deal made by the Mavericks to get Luka Doncic. As for his daughter, Mark says that she is emotionally invested in Quentin Grimes and was sad when the Mavericks decided to trade him.
