BET+'s The Family Business concluded with Season 5 in August 2024, and creator Carl Weber recently shared an exciting update about the upcoming season, that it will likely hit your screens in fall 2025.

The show stars Ernie Hudson as L.C. Duncan, the Duncan patriarch, who was in a battle in Season 5 after his son Junior retaliated against him.

The finale saw Junior getting back with his wife Sonya and joining the Alliance to go against his father, and the stage is set for the next disastrous chapter in LC and Junior's power war.

Here is the Season 5 ending explained and further news on The Family Business Season 6.

The Family Business Season 5 saw Junior going back to Sonya

The Family Business Season 5 finale was filled with unexpected twists and turns, especially for Junior, who has retaliated against his father, L.C. Duncan. While LC felt betrayed by his own son, he did his best to secure a position at the table for Vegas after Junior's departure.

The finale saw Junior learning that Sonya, his wife, is pregnant, and he goes running to her and asks for forgiveness. While Sonya knows her husband's wrong actions, she chooses to forgive him and even sits at the meeting with the Alliance.

While Junior plots with the Alliance and Antonio, it is clear that he is using him to get to LC, and Junior's hatred towards his father could prove fatal to his legacy. With old wounds coming into play, Junior plans against his father's business with The Alliance in the finale, which will likely set the stage for Season 6.

As for Sonya and Junior's relationship, while they have reconciled, the couple still has a lot of path to cover, and their relationship will also be tested in the upcoming season.

Elsewhere, Rio learns a key secret about his parentage. While he suspected that he might be Margaret's son, his pursuit of the carjacker reveals that he is actually Chippy's son. Since Roman is also Chippy's son, this makes Roman, Paris, and Rio triplets, and this would be one high point going into the next stage, where it would be interesting to see what this revelation results in for Rio's life. His equation with his sister Paris is also bound to change.

Weber shares update on The Family Business Season 6

After such an explosive season, fans were eagerly waiting for news on The Family Business Season 6, and Weber has finally broken his silence on the upcoming chapter.

While Season 6 was confirmed, there were no further updates on the upcoming season, and fans were wondering when they could expect Season 6.

Recently, Weber broke his silence on Facebook when he interacted with his fans during a session and gave a release window for The Family Business Season 6:

"Hold, I didn't lie. I said Family Business in the fall."

When asked, he also said that he is currently working on the script, and fans will soon get to see the Duncan family back.

In an interview with The Direct, Hudson teased about his character in the upcoming season:

''One of the things, the reason I want to do that show is it has a family dynamic, and it's all about the family, but it was also important for me to not be too cordial or diplomatic, you know, you got to know that he can, at least.''

He added:

''And it's been sort of a fine line between being a nice guy and walking, but also being ruthless, if you have to be. And so I've enjoyed that part of it, and I have no idea what he's planning in this season."
