The Dispatcher is an upcoming thriller series on Apple TV+ which tells the story of a distraught father. The project was announced in July 2024 with actor Patrick Brammall playing the lead role of Ian Hunt.
Hunt has been described as a detective turned police dispatcher whose life turned upside down 10 years ago when his daughter went missing. In the present, he receives a distress call from a girl who he thinks could be his missing daughter, which once again changes the course of his life.
Based on Ryan David Jahn’s 2011 novel of the same name, the show is one of the most awaited projects on Apple TV+. The series recently had some new additions to the cast, which has made it even more exciting. Keep reading to check out which actors are going to be seen in The Dispatcher.
Every actor confirmed to appear in Apple TV+’s The Dispatcher
Patrick Brammall has been confirmed to headline The Dispatcher as Ian Hunt. Ian used to be a police detective whose daughter, Maggie, disappeared a decade ago. He now works as a police dispatcher and still refuses to believe that his daughter could have passed away.
Brammall is an Australian actor who is the winner of several accolades, including a Gotham Award and two AACTA Awards. He is known for playing Sergeant James Hayes in Glitch, Andy Bouchard in Evil, Hendy in No Activity, and Sean Moody in A Moody Christmas.
Joining Brammall on The Dispatcher is Maxine Peake. The English actress is recognized for her portrayal of Anne Williams in Anne, Sadie in The Bisexual, Bella in Black Mirror, and Veronica Ball in Shameless.
Daniel Henshall has also been announced as a cast member on The Dispatcher. The actor has previously starred in Australian shows like Mystery Road: Origin, The Newsreader, Lambs of God, and The Beautiful Lie.
Brendan Cowell, who starred as Duke Ferdinand Richese in Dune: Prophecy, will also appear in the show. His other television credits include The Castaways, Wastelander Panda, Love My Way, and The Twelve.
Zahra Newman, who has previously appeared in the shows Rosehaven and Diary of an Uber Driver, is a part of the ensemble as well. Rounding out the cast are Paper Dolls and Wolf Like Me actress Jessica Wren and debutante Chloe Geisker.
The Dispatcher is going to feature six episodes, written by Kris Mrksa. The series is currently under production and is being directed by Christian Schwochow, who has previously worked on Netflix’s The Crown. Apple TV+ has not yet announced the premiere date of the series. The official synopsis for the show reads:
“Police detective Ian Hunt’s life fell apart 10 years ago when his young daughter Maggie disappeared without a trace. Now working as a police dispatcher, the only thing that has kept him going is his implacable refusal to accept that she might be gone forever.”
“When he receives a distress call from a young girl he is certain is Maggie, he will stop at nothing to find her and reunite his broken family, whatever the cost.”
