The Day of the Jackal season 1 episode 6: The Jackal's escape from the barn explored
The sixth episode of season one of The Day of the Jackal began with Eddie Redmayne's character, the Jackal, waking up in a barn. He is immediately knocked unconscious by the owner of the barn, Attila, who considers him to be a threat. Attila then ties up the Jackal and tries to negotiate with him, but they soon run into a language barrier as Attila doesn't speak English.
Initially, Attila gets over his fear of the Jackal and almost lets him go. But after stumbling upon his high-tech weaponry, Attila drags him back into his home and arranges for someone who speaks English to act as an intermediary between them. The Jackal at first offers to pay off Attila to release him, but the other men who are on their way now demand their cut. A police barricade stops them on the road as they are heading to Attila's barn.
Attila now tries to force the Jackal into eating something. However, this turns into his undoing, as while he's shoving the bread down the Jackal's throat, the latter headbutts him, thus knocking him down, and then proceeds to stab him with a knife. He tries to make his escape from the barn after grabbing his gun and trying to steal a car, but the car won't take off.
By this time, the men have arrived, and the Jackal gets into a gunfight, eventually killing all of them except László, the guy who speaks English and surrenders to the Jackal. The latter drives off with László in the car they came in, subsequently letting him go before reminding him that he would harm his family if he were to reveal the Jackal's identity to anyone.
