The Challenge 40 star Cara Maria bid farewell to the season right before the finale, and she did not regret going home as she was satisfied with her performance in the elimination arena against Tori.
Cara Maria has been a Challenge veteran as she has been a part of the show for quite a long time. The season also had some of Cara Maria's old friends which included Tori, Derek, and others.
In an Instagram video, posted by The Challenge 40 star 6 days ago, she delighted the fans with a "cute behind-the-scene" story which was about how her friends managed to celebrate her birthday, amidst nowhere in the show.
She also mentioned that the post could be a "spoiler" for those who did not watch the last episode which aired on December 18.
Cara then shared the story about her "Horse Taraot Cards" which she brings with herself every season she has been a part of.
She revealed that it was a little tradition that before elimination or challenge, fellow challengers would pull a tarot card and see what's in there. She then revealed that Derek sat with her all night to make their horse tarot cards.
She unwound each tarot card and read what was written in there for her fans, concluding by saying that her elimination was unexpected but "she is not a quitter" and going to come back for "the win".
"I definitely feel like I won"- The Challenge 40 star Cara Maria appreciates the "genuine" connection she made this season
The Challenge 40 star Cara Maria had a bitter-sweet experience in the recent episode that aired on December 18, where she was eliminated from the season. However, she also witnessed a sweet birthday party organized by her fellow cast members and friends.
They made some real efforts as mentioned in an Instagram post by decorating the place with black and red balloons and managing to get a cake for her and a bouquet as well.
She was overwhelmed by the gesture and after her elimination she opened up about how this season was more special to her as she was able to forge some "genuine" connections. In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly on December 18, 2024, Cara Maria shared that the season started with Laurel Kentucky, and Johnny Bananas coming right at her.
However, after Laurel's elimination, she was able to "let her guard down" and bond with other housemates. She expressed that she was able to be herself in this season, and witnessed that there were chances to "just chill" and girls were not targeting girls. She then added:
"That little birthday party they had for me an hour before I had to go into the elimination, was just the sweetest thing. I really, really had a good time. I definitely feel like I won."
The Challenge 40 star also revealed that she learned that it was important to keep her professional and personal life untwined and treat the game like a game. Her conflict with Laurel after All-Stars, she was all worked up, and season 40 helped her to "separate TV from real life."
The Challenge 40 will now return with the new episodes in the new year, 2025. Episode 18, The End of an Era, will premiere on January 1, 2025, on MTV.
