The Cage is Netflix's newest French series about an MMA player, Taylor, who plans to make it big in the wrestling world and enter the UFC. It stars Melvin Boomer, Franck Gastambide, Bosh, and Antoine Simoni. It follows Taylor's underdog story as he gains instant fame after defeating a champion rival during a sparring match.
But Taylor's final victory against Ibrahim in the ring was not the first time the wrestlers had clashed. They have a history of rivalry on the show.
Taylor and Ibrahim's rivalry did not start with their first fight. Ibrahim was also one of the students training in Taylor's gym under Boss. Taylor aspired to become a decorated UFC fighter, although Boss, his trainer, did not approve of him. Moreover, getting a chance at the ring was his only shot at meeting his mother's and her boyfriend's insatiable demands for money. Taylor provoked Ibrahim, resulting in their fights and feud.
With his MMA career going nowhere and Boss paying no special attention, Taylor almost gave up his wrestling dream when French welterweight division champion Ibrahim entered the gym to take on a sparring partner.

Taylor gave Ibrahim his first defeat even before their first fight in The Cage
Ibrahim is aggressive and boastful, and Boss forbids his students from interacting with him. But Taylor sees this as an opportunity to shine in Boss' eyes and accepts Ibrahim's offer to spar.
While a barely trained Tyalor fumbles throughout the fight at the hands of champion Ibrahim, Taylor ends the fight by directly punching Ibrahim’s face. This marks Ibrahim's very first knockout, which gets recorded by his team and was meant for PR when he would have defeated an amateur.
Ibrahim's defeat against a nobody and amateur wrestler like Taylor goes viral, thus beginning their rivalry in The Cage.
Taylor directly provokes Ibrahim for a fight on live television in The Cage
The viral incident made Taylor instantly popular on social media. UFC Paris roped him in for an interview on live television, during which he directly challenged Ibrahim to a fight.
Georges St-Pierre, Taylor's idol, also publicly backs him up, and social media is flooded with responses in favor of this match between two past rivals. While Ibrahim is reluctant to take up the offer, he agrees when Georges prompts him by publicly demeaning him.
Taylor's mother and her boyfriend ask him to throw his fight against Ibrahim as they have placed their bets against him, to which Taylor agrees.
During the fight, Taylor starts with defense and initially tries to lose (as promised to his mother). But he soon realizes what it took for him to get to this point, and he starts to fight with Ibrahim for real.
Taylor launches consecutive hits on Ibrahim, which forces him to be on guard, and the match turns out to be a tie but a moral victory for Taylor.
What happened at the rematch? How did Taylor end his feud with Ibrahim in The Cage?
To earn some quick money, Taylor participates in The Higher Weight Division Tournament, where he loses brutally after an initial win. The defeat takes a toll on his mind and body.
After this loss, Ibrahim asks Taylor for a rematch, to which he agrees, even after Boss' warning that he is not ready for a match. As it turns out, right before their rematch, Taylor is infused with PTSD and gets a panic attack, and he can't even enter the ring. Eventually, the match is called off.
A furious Ibrahim threatens Boss and his gym members, and Boss reveals that he had evidence against Ibrahim when he assaulted a woman at his gym some years back.
While Ibrahim sends his men to attack Boss, which leaves him in a coma, Taylor trains for a rematch with Ibrahim.
In their rematch, he finally beats him fair and square, and Taylor's entry into the UFC is official. He finally put a rest to their long feud while winning a ticket to the UFC.
