Amazon Prime's The Boys season 4 has finally wrapped up, and after witnessing the most unimaginable plot twists and tragic events in the series, it's hard to say what season 5 will bring.
From Billy Butcher executing Vice President-elect Victoria Neuman to A-Train departing from The Seven, the fourth season had fans on the edge.
Ashley Barrett, the CEO of Vought was also seen injecting herself with Compound V, and we know that if you're taking too much of the drug, there's likely a bombshell consequence on the way.
However, the exact release date of The Boys season 5 is yet to be announced. It will likely take two years to finish, considering the release of the previous two seasons which took approximately two years to complete.
When Will The Boys Season 5 Arrive?
It's been only a few months since The Boys season 4 hit Amazon Prime and has finally concluded with several plot twists. However, fans are curious about the next season, and its release date.
In an interview with Deadline, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke shed light on the writing process of the series and said:
"Usually from about when you start the writers room, and we started like about a month ago, five weeks ago, to when generally you hit the air, it’s about two years and change."
According to the showrunner, fans and viewers might enjoy The Boys season 5 in the middle of 2026, as the writing and filming process typically requires more than a year.
Kripke also told Variety that The Boys season 5's filming might start in mid-November of 2024 and will continue till mid-2025.

Similar to Season 4, The Boys Season 5 will also have eight episodes, and reflecting on the impact the anti-heroes leave in just a few moments, eight episodes aren't less.
Who Will Star in The Boys Season 5?
The elimination of Victoria Neuman (played by Claudia Doumit) at the hands of Karl Urban's Billy Butcher might have upset many Victoria fans, putting others in doubt as to who is next in line.
However, the cast members who will reprise their iconic roles include Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Chace Crawford, Karl Urban, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, and actors who were introduced in the latest season of The Boys.
Will The Boys End After Season 5?
It is no secret that The Boys Season 5 will be the final season of the Prime Video series, as Eric Kripke told Deadline that he already planned the end of The Boys, and knows how to execute it perfectly.
Per his X (formerly Twitter) post, the showrunner announced he will end The Boys with the upcoming season, and wrote:
"#TheBoys Season 4 Premiere Week is a good time to announce: Season 5 will be the Final Season! Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought. Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax. Watch Season 4 in 2 DAYS, cause the end has begun!"
This will undeniably sadden The Boys enthusiasts, but to keep the legacy of this franchise alive, Amazon Prime will likely release more engaging spin-off series in the future.
Current Update on Gen V Season 2
Soon after The Boys season 1 came out, fans couldn't get over the ultra-violence and skeptical views in the superhero world. Typically mighty figures are portrayed as kind and noble in films and series, but when it comes to The Boys, the world is filled with notorious and corrupt superheroes.
Their nature to deceive each other sets them apart from typical superhero stories and injects more intrigue among fans, The Boys spinoff series Gen V season 1 was released last year in September.
Following the success of Gen V season 1, Amazon has recently renewed the spin-off series for the next chapter. Gen V revolves around the young Supes who discover the origins of their superpowers stem from Compound V and are admitted to the only college for young adults run by Vought International.
