Of all the chaotic crossovers in TV history, this might be the most unhinged—Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins are crashing into The Boys like an out-of-control Impala!

Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins officially join season 5, reuniting with Jensen Ackles under Eric Kripke’s twisted, gory, and unhinged vision. Unsurprisingly, the internet is collectively losing its mind.

The Boys + Supernatural: The fandom’s ultimate crossover moment: absolute chaos

The second the news broke, Twitter, Reddit, and Tumblr exploded in a frenzy of reactions. “The boys are back!” became the rallying cry, as fans celebrated the chance to see Sam, Dean, and Castiel together again—this time, in a world where superheroes are more morally bankrupt than Supernatural’s demons.

Memes and GIFs took over social media like demon possession, with fans resurrecting everything from Castiel’s tragic one-liners to chaotic Winchester brotherly moments. On X, the official announcement—cheekily captioned “Season 5 just got a bit more Supernatural”—immediately went viral, while fans joked that The Boys season 5 is basically Supernatural Season 16 in disguise.

A flood of GIFs of Sam, Dean, and Cas high-fiving took over, with captions like "the Winchester takeover is real." Fans spammed Soldier Boy clips captioned "he has no idea what’s coming," while others went straight for Supernatural deep cuts—like one Redditor boldly suggesting the Winchesters should "use that revolver to kill Homelander," a cheeky nod to the demon-killing Colt.

Tumblr wasn’t far behind, with a post gleefully proclaiming, "The Boys Season 5 will also be known as Supernatural Season 16: The AU Superhero World Version apparently 😂." 2012 Tumblr girlies, rise from the ashes.

Even the official The Boys accounts joined the madness, teasing the chaos with playful captions. Meanwhile, the fandom took the joke and ran with it—Reddit exploded with posts dubbing Eric Kripke’s casting choices "The Kripke Cinematic Universe" and speculating that Kansas’s "Carry On Wayward Son" might as well play in the finale. Meanwhile, fans speculated whether Tumblr would actually combust under the weight of the crossover.

Speculation station: What roles could they play?

With no character details revealed, fans have been busy throwing out every possible (and impossible) theory. Some fans think Kripke will troll us all by making Padalecki a supe with the stamina of a thousand seasons and Collins, some sort of twisted, disgraced celestial being.

One particularly hilarious theory suggests Padalecki could be a supe called “Mister Marathon,” a twisted take on his long-running TV career. Others have joked he might just play Bigfoot, given his height.

Collins, on the other hand, has angelic baggage. Fans are betting on something ironic—maybe a Vought-backed supe who pretends to be divine but is actually horrifyingly corrupt. Or, in true The Boys fashion, maybe he just plays himself, casually walking through a scene like, “Yeah, I’ve been here the whole time.”

But the biggest hope? That Kripke will give us the crossover moment of our dreams by making their characters directly tied to Soldier Boy. After all, if Ackles is back, why not let the trio share some screen time for old times' sake?

Will The Boys embrace the Supernatural energy?

Kripke collects Supernatural alumni like Pokémon, and he’s not stopping now. First Jim Beaver, then Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and now he's dragging the Winchester fam right into Vought’s mess. From Jim Beaver to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the series has been a second home for SPN veterans. But bringing Padalecki and Collins into the fold? That’s a different level of meta.

The real question is: Will this just be a fun casting Easter egg, or will The Boys go all-in and give fans a true Supernatural send-off within its world? Given Kripke’s love for chaos and fan service, we’re leaning toward the latter.

For years, Supernatural fans have wandered the wilderness, longing for a reunion. Meanwhile, The Boys has been out here redefining "batsh*t insanity" on TV. Now, these two forces are colliding like a wayward angel falling through a barn. Now, those two worlds are colliding in the best way possible.

Conclusion? "We got work to do"

If this casting is anything to go by, The Boys season 5 is shaping up to be the wildest yet. Whether Padalecki and Collins end up as supes, villains, or just Kripke’s latest chaotic experiment, one thing’s for sure: fans are ready for whatever insanity comes next.

And if they don’t get at least one scene together? Oh, the internet will riot.
