Prime Video's newly released supernatural action series The Bondsman has come to an end after its eight-episode run. The story revolves around Hub Halloran, a former bounty hunter who is brought back from the dead by the Devil.

The reason? The Devil wants Hub to work for him and capture the demons who have escaped from Hell. This means, that Hub will have to again navigate the mortal world, but this time, he needs to deal with ruthless demons.

The series delivers such a captivating story that even the lead actor, Kevin Bacon, couldn’t help but sing its praises. During an interview, he said:

"The tone of it was just so interesting to me -- this outlandish idea of becoming a bondsman, a bounty hunter for the devil and sending demons back was so crazy."

The series kicks off with Hub's revival, followed by him accepting the Devil's offer. After agreeing to the task, Hub becomes a bounty hunter and steps into an organization called Pot O'Gold, which specializes in collecting souls for the Devil.

As his new journey begins, Hub encounters formidable souls, especially Lilith. Initially, Hub made a deal with this vengeful demon, who ultimately possessed Hub's ex-wife.

The Bondsman Season 1 concluded with Hub facing the consequences of his past actions and choices he made. The series also revolves around his family, including his mother and teenage son whom he shares with his ex-wife Maryanne.

Throughout the season, Hub has been trying to escape the deal with the Devil, which has doomed him to a fate in Hell. His primary focus after revival was to save Sheryl, whom he accidentally killed.

In this desperation, Hub turns to the most powerful demon Lilith, who has been trapped. Since she wanted her freedom, Lilith told Hub that she'd ensure Sheryl's safety if the bounty hunter released her.

Not only this, Lilith also mentioned that she would help Hub break the Devil's deal. Blinded by his own self-interest and the hope of escaping his dark fate, Hub agrees. He frees Lilith, who first possessed a crow, and escapes. Hub, at this point, believes he has won—but he has no idea of the true cost of his actions.

As the season nears its end, the consequences of Hub’s deal come crashing down. Since Lilith is set free, she takes over Maryanne’s body who happens to be Hub's ex-wife.

Lilith has a deep hatred for men because of the terrible suffering she endured in Hell, where Satan tormented her. The demon finds Maryanne a woman who shares her anger. She felt betrayed by both Hub and her new boyfriend Lucky, leading Lilith to possess her.

The demon takes no time in using Maryaane as a revenge tool and reading her influence. Her presence becomes even stronger as Lilith also exploits Maryanne's singing voice. With this, Lilith makes it clear that she's now the biggest threat to humanity.

Lilith gives an ultimatum to Hub in The Bondsman Season 1

As mentioned above, Lilith's freedom was a wrong choice Hub made, and now he's left with almost no option to escape his fate. As The Bondsman Season 1 finale continues, Lilith presents him with yet another impossible choice.

She offers him a deal: if Hub helps Lilith defeat the Devil, she will let Maryanne live. However, if he refuses, everyone, including Hub's family will meet their untimely death.

Hub thought that he had saved Sheryl and almost escaped the deal with the Devil. But in reality, Lilith has proved that Hub's troubles are far from over. Satan is relentless, and no matter what Hub does, the Devil will find a way to bring him back.

The Season 1 finale of The Bondsman didn’t reveal Hub’s final decision, leaving his fate hanging in the balance. He’s now trapped in an impossible situation—either he teams up with Lilith to fight Satan, or he risks losing everything.

His choice could shape what happens next if the story continues in a second season. However, as of now, Prime Video hasn’t officially renewed the show.
