The second episode of 90 Day Fiancé Season 11 featured Mahdi's arrival in the U.S. and meeting his connection, Stevi. While she was a 37-year-old single mom from Hattiesburg, MS, Mahdi was a 26-year-old individual from Tehran, Iran.
Stevi recalled that she and Mahdi met only once when she visited him. She was going to the airport to receive him. While she went, she had a signboard, which she prepared to welcome Mahdi "home."
After seeing the signboard, Mahdi told the cameras:
"I really love this sign that Stevi has made for me. In Farsi, when you want to say someone belongs to you, you have to just use "M" at the end of their name. So she has written "Mahdim" which means like "My Mahdi." And that, that felt perfect."
90 Day Fiancé Season 11 Episode 2: Stevi went to the airport to receive Mahdi
Stevi arrived at the airport while Mahdi's flight was about to land. She was still in the parking lot and forgot the poster she had made. So she went back and got it from the car. Stevi also wanted to change her shirt, for which she already got a pink one from her home.
Soon, she got changed, and went ahead with her poster to look for Mahdi. 90 Day Fiancé star learned that Mahdi had just landed. While waiting for him, she confessed to the cameras:
"There was a period in my life where I was really worried that Mahdi might not ever be able to come to the U.S. or maybe his government or our government would restrict that from happening. And honestly, up until the very last second, I'm even worried about him getting here. So I think just seeing him in the airport is just going to feel like we made it. Like, we're okay."
She told the cameras that she felt "anxious" and "overwhelmed." Additionally, she didn’t know from which terminal Mahdi was coming from.
90 Day Fiancé star spotted Mahdi coming down on an escalator. Seeing him, she got emotional. As soon as he arrived, they both hugged each other. While he told her how much he had missed her, Stevi kept repeating: "I'm not okay."
Mahdi introduced himself:
"My name is Mahdi. I'm 27 years old, and I'm from Tahran, Iran. Although I always try to introduce myself as Persian because it sounds like more friendly than Iranian."
He confessed to feeling "amazing" after seeing Stevi at the airport. As they sat on a bench, Mahdi picked up the signboard Stevi had made for him.
"She wasn't just a person for me there. She was just like family, home, friend, wife, and everything to me. I felt amazing hugging her," he confessed.
The 90 Day Fiancé star picked up the sign and told Stevi he "loved" it. He also revealed to the cameras how she had written his name as "Mahdim," which meant "My Mahdim" in the Farsi language. He stated that it felt "perfect."
While holding hands at the airport, Mahdi told Stevi he was "very excited." He asked her how long she had been waiting for him. She answered, "An eternity."
In a joint confessional, 90 Day Fiancé star Mahdi expressed:
"I've never had this many emotions at the same time. Like when I look at the future, I know that the U.S. is going to give me something that I've ever had. But when I look up back, I see that I left my family there."
He said he was hopeful about returning to see his family members. However, he also mentioned the "high risk" of the possibility that he might not "ever" return to Iran.
