With each passing day, fans are getting closer to the season finale of House of the Dragon Season 2. With Team Black under Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen and Greens ruled by King Aegon II Targaryen, the Targaryens and their dragons are all set to claim the Iron Throne.

Among the ruthless dragons crafted by George R. R. Martin is Tessarion, whose arrival in House of the Dragon is a glimmer of hope for the Greens who are outnumbered, when it comes to their arsenal of dragons.

According to Fire & Blood, the she-dragon is known as Blue Queen and belongs to Alicent's youngest son, Prince Daeron Targaryen.

When Prince Daeron was a young lad, he was sent to Oldtown to develop fighting skills and learn the ways of life, while serving as a squire to Lord Ormund Hightower.

In House of the Dragon season 2, episodes 6 and 7, Prince Daeron was mentioned briefly followed by the finale's teaser showcasing Tessarion flying high as the armies prepared for battle.

If the cobalt blue dragon and her rider join the Dance of Dragons in the HBO series, the two will strengthen the Greens to some extent.

While Queen Rhaenyra is ready with her Dragonseeds and strategic plans, the arrival of Tessarion and Prince Daeron will provide crucial reinforcement to Team Green due to the beast's agility.

Tessarion is fast and the books hold testament to her ability. Her presence will not only intensify the battle but will also pose a substantial challenge to the Blacks, escalating the war between the Targaryens to new heights.

Tessarion is a she-dragon claimed by Prince Daeron Targaryen. Her blue dragonfire sets Tessarion apart from other dragons in the House of Targaryen, making her an appealing and bold young creature in Westeros.

According to Martin's book, the dragon hatched around 120 AC and reached fighting size by the time Prince Daeron was old enough to contribute to the civil war. During the Dance of the Dragons, she was the youngest dragon among her allies.

As previously mentioned, Prince Daeron is the rider of Tessarion who bonded with the creature before the Dance of Dragons reached the tragic battle. Daeron is also known as Daeron the Daring in Fire & Blood and is yet to be introduced in the HBO series.

Born in 114 AC, Daeron is the fourth son of Alicent Hightower and King Viserys I Targaryen, and George R. R. Martin's book describes him as the most warm-hearted and thoughtful compared to his siblings.

Daeron Targaryen makes his appearance during the Dance of Dragons to contribute to the Greens and prove his and Tessarion's significance in the Civil War.

In George R. R. Martin's Fire & Blood, Tessarion valiantly fought multiple battles with her rider, but little did she know her fate was one of tragedy. The young dragon didn't survive for long though.

According to the book, Prince Daeron, who was then known as Daeron the Daring won the first battle of Tumbleton for the Greens. However, Daeron was killed in the second battle of Tumbleton, leaving Tessarion behind.

Following her rider's death, Tessarion was thrust into revenge and engaged in a brutal fight with Addam Velaryon's Seasmoke. Vermithor also joined this epic clash.

By the end of it, both Vermithor and Seasmoke met their ends, leaving Tessarion with fatal injuries. The female dragon didn't survive the ordeal. She faced death after Lord Blackwood's best archer, Billy Burley, killed her to put an end to her miseries.

House of the Dragon season 2 is streaming on HBO.
