There's finally some good news for fans waiting for Ted Lasso season 4. The Emmy-winning show is closer than ever to getting a brand new season four. Warner Bros. Television has decided to keep the original cast, including Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift, on board for the new season.

Ted Lasso is a sports comedy American TV series created by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly. The show started on Apple TV+ on August 14, 2020, with three episodes, and then a new episode came out every week.

The show revolves around Ted Lasso, a college football coach from the US who's tasked with coaching an English soccer team. The team's owner secretly hopes he'll fail, but Ted's down-to-earth and optimistic approach surprisingly leads to success.

Jason Sudeikis is likely to be involved in the revival as an executive producer. The series co-creator Bill Lawrence acknowledged in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that having Ted Lasso Season 4 depends entirely on Sudeikis as he would have to sacrifice his life with his children and ex-wife Olivia Wilde.

Ted Lasso's future was uncertain after season 3, but it looks like a fourth season or spinoff might happen. The show's creators never said no to a fourth season, and now Warner Bros. Television has picked up three original cast members.

According to a report by Deadline, Warner Bros. Television has options on Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift, who were part of the UK's acting union. They've been asked to reprise their roles as Rebecca Welton, Roy Kent, and Leslie Higgins respectively.

This is a promising step forward since they all play big roles in the show.

If the cast agrees to the new deals, Warner Bros. Television can give the thumbs up to Ted Lasso season 4. But it's not a done deal yet - they still need to figure out the budget and schedule. Some actors might have committed to other shows, so that's something they need to work out.

However, this depends on the budget getting approved and scheduling with the actors who aren't tied down to Warner Bros. Television. Meanwhile, prep work for the writers' room is already underway.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bill Lawrence shared that the future of Ted Lasso season 4, completely depends on Jason Sudeikis.

“Even without talking to each other, every actor, actress, writer, and producer on that show loved the experience,...As fans, we’d all kill if it was going again, but everybody would say the same thing, which is: Whatever Jason feels like doing, and whatever his decision is, we’re all down with it."

The third season of Ted Lasso ended with Ted going back to Kansas to be with his wife and son. However, the show gave us a few quick looks into the future, which suggested there are many different directions the story of AFC Richmond and its characters could take.

When the season ended in May 2023, Apple TV+ teased a possible spinoff in the future.
