Survivor fans, get ready! The season's finale is set to go live on CBS with a little twist. Unlike the past 46 seasons of the show, this year's finale will premiere in two parts, and each part will run for 2 hours each.
The competitive reality television series has entered its forty-seventh season, which premiered on September 18, 2024. CBS is about to pull off an unprecedented twist in the format of the show as fans gear up for a season finale.
Expect to see thrills, deeper characters, and larger storytelling during the final season thanks to this longer finale format. This season has already created a lot of excitement and buzz among the fans of the show, and the different twists and turns seen throughout the journey have just made the audience more excited for the finale than ever.
The Unexpected Finale of Survivor Season 47
Ever since the show began back in 2000, many things have changed in these 24 years. There is only one thing that remained the same, and that was a 3-hour-long grand finale to find the ultimate 'Survivor.'
This season of the show is about to change history. For the very first time on the show, the finale will not premiere in a single episode. Instead, there will be 2 episodes airing on different dates, and each of these episodes will be 2 hours long.
The fans can see part one of the finale on December 11 on CBS at 8 pm. For the second part, fans would have to be a little patient, as it will go live on December 18 at 8 pm. The crowning of the winner would happen immediately by the host, Jeff Probst.
Continuation of the Survivor Supersizing Trend
Back in season 45, CBS decided to increase the screen time of the cast of the show from 60 minutes each episode to 90 minutes. Fans called his change in the format a 'supersizing trend.'
Once again, the finale being extended from 3 hours to 4 hours continues the 2-year-old trend. Also, as the finale will be spread over two weeks, the overall airing of the show will also extend from 13 weeks to 14 weeks, which is exciting for the fans who do not want the show to end.
The remaining contestants for the Survivor Finale
After Sol Yi got eliminated in last week's episode, there are a few left in the game. The ones who will appear on screens are Gabe Ortis, Genevieve Mushaluk, Sam Phalen, Tenny Chirichillo, Rachel LaMont, Caroline Vidmar, Sue Smey, Kyle Ostwald, and Andy Rueda.
Out of all, Ostwald is definitely a threat to the rest of the group, as he has won 3 immunity competitions this season. Along with him, Smey and LaMont also possess hidden immunity idols. They can play those idols anytime and save themselves from going home.
Survivor Season 47 aired on CBS on September 18, and its finale will air in two two-hour-long episodes spread across two weeks.
