Surface: What happened in the show till now? A quick recap

The series opens with Sophie dreaming about the traumatic incident when she fell into the water from the ship's deck. This sets up the foundation for the story to build up to a point when she realises that she didn't fall but was probably pushed. There are some conversations between Sophie and her therapist where she explores her feelings and recalls some prime memories she lost after the incident. She finds out that other than James, her husband, she also had an affair with a detective named Baden.

The story takes a twist when she finds out that the suicide note that people around her refer to as proof of the incident being a case of suicide could be a goodbye letter to James as she was about to leave him. She also gets to know about the misappropriation of millions of dollars that took place in James's firm and struggles with the thought of doubting James to kill her.
