What happened in Surface Season 2 Episode 2?
In Surface Season 2 Episode 2, Sophie made progress in her investigation with Callum as they again met in the library. Earlier, Sophie found a case file about her mother's death, which contained her death certificate and other details about her investigation.
While Callum has his suspicions about Sophie, he still believes that she genuinely wants his help and agrees to partner up with her to investigate the Huntleys. They discover that the doctor who examined Sophie's mother's dead body is William Huntley's doctor, who has been with him for thirty years.
She also finds coordinates to William's properties scribbled on a piece of paper, which furthers her doubts about his involvement in her mother's death. Both Sophie and Callum conclude that William had his doctor cover up the murder for an ulterior motive.
Elsewhere, Sophie also gets an invite to Quinn's engagement party, where Eliza's family seems suspicious towards her. Earlier, Sophie discovered that she once worked as a stable hand on Huntley's property, and Eliza's family seems to remember her from there.
She socialises with the guests, and Eliza catches her lying about her childhood. Eliza does not understand why Sophie needs to lie about these things and gets upset with her.
The episode ends with Sophie's husband, James, showing up at the party. She cannot understand whether it is a hallucination or if James has actually come to London. The episode ends on this cliffhanger.
