Suits LA Episode 9 recap: Pellegrini’s trial, Harvey’s son, and more

Suits LA has aired its penultimate ninth episode, 'Bat Signal,' bringing Harvey Specter once again into the narrative. However, the attorney is not the only character from the original show who returned, as the villainous Daniel Hardman also makes an appearance.

Ted and Harvey team up to bring John Pellegrini to justice. The mob boss has kept Ted on his toes throughout the season and is the mastermind behind poor Eddie’s death. When he gets parole from prison, Ted and Harvey spring into action to send him back to where he belongs.

Meanwhile, Stuart deals with the case of David Bowie, who becomes a suspect in a murder. The episode also reveals some details about Harvey’s personal life, explaining what happened with him following Suits.

Suits LA Episode 9 recap: Pellegrini is brought to justice

Suits LA Episode 9 once again brings John Pellegrini into the spotlight as Ted Black is determined not to let him walk free a second time. After the mob boss earns parole from his previous sentence, Ted and Harvey reunite in New York to ensure the mobster ends up in prison again.

In the previous narrative, it was revealed that Daniel Hardman from Suits helped verify some financial records during Pellegrini’s trial, which proved he was laundering money. However, Harvey was called to the stand by the defense, and the attorney had to testify that Ted obtained the records illegally—this led to a reduced sentence for Pellegrini.

In the present, Ted and Harvey warn Pellegrini that his crew is crumbling. Meanwhile, Kevin points them to Vinnie Santoro, who serves as second-in-command in Pellegrini’s operation. Ted offers Santoro immunity in exchange for testimony, but the latter calls it a bluff, refusing the offer.

Ted and Harvey then go to extreme lengths and orchestrate a fake car bomb attack on Santoro to scare him into cooperating. The plan works as Pellegrini eventually admits on record that he ordered Eddie’s murder. The case is closed, and Pellegrini is finally brought to justice.

Suits LA Episode 9 recap: David Bowie gets arrested

While Ted fights mobsters in New York, Stuart Lane faces his own crisis in Los Angeles. His new client, David Bowie, a powerful Hollywood fixer, is the prime suspect in a murder investigation.

Stuart confronts David, who insists he is innocent. However, he comes up with a strange alibi about breaking into a producer’s home during the time of the murder. Stuart seeks Rick and Erica’s support on the case due to their connections in the entertainment industry.

Erica hands over surveillance footage that supports David’s alibi and obtains a sculpture from Stuart in exchange, which he had taken from her during their younger days. However, the police find David’s DNA on the victim’s car, and ADA Isaac arrests him anyway.

What does the episode reveal about Harvey’s life after Suits?

Amid all the drama, an emotional reveal comes from Harvey Specter. At one point in Suits LA Episode 9, he receives a text from his son, making the audience realize that he and Donna became parents after Suits’ conclusion.

In another scene, Harvey discloses that his brother, Marcus Specter, passed away sometime ago, battling cancer. The storyline has been included to honor actor Billy Miller, who played Marcus in the original show and sadly died in 2023.
