Suits LA Episode 7 recap: Secrets about Ted's strained relationship with his father are revealed
The most recent episode of Suits LA featured a flashback about Ted's past life in New York, which gave some answers about his strained relationship with his father. It was revealed that when Ted Black was about to take the biggest case of his career as a prosecutor against mob boss Pellegrini, his father needed help.
Ted's father was summoned by the district attorney for a legal investigation, and he asked his son to se his position at the DA's office and get away from the investigation. Ted refused because it would badly affect his career and reputation. Moreover, he believed that Pellegrini had proof of his father's illegal activities, which he planned on using to extort his father into making Ted accept a new job away from the DA's office.
Ted found a way to save his father and win his case against Pellegrini. He would ask his father to testify against Pellegrini in return for witness protection. He managed to convince his boss to cut a deal for his father in exchange for being a witness, but it came with its own consequences. His boss told him he would have to resign after the Pellegrini case ended if his father didn't agree to the deal.
But when Ted went to his father with the offer, fearing that the mob boss would come after him for betrayal, Ted's father refused to back his case in court, saying that he would rather go to jail than die. This likely caused the rift between father and son and forced Ted out of New York.
Suits LA Episode 7 pays a tribute to John Amos
Hollywood veteran John Amos appeared as himself in Suits LA, as Ted's father figure and his first client as an Entertainment lawyer. Amos' death is what triggers the flashback showing us why Ted and his real father now have a strained relationship.
Ted learns of Amos' death and decides to honour him over drinks with Rick. His influence over Ted and Rick in the show is beautifully summed up when Ted says,
“Look at that. He’s gone, and he’s still putting us back together.”
Since the actor passed away in August 2024, this was the show's way to pay tribute to the late veteran. Rick and Ted talk to their respective connections to get John Amos a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and remember him by watching their favorite episode of Good Times.
Suits LA Episode 7 recap- Stuart and Samantha disagree on a client

He agrees to take on his case, but as it turns out, David was only interested in boosting his reputation. He asks Stuart to convince Samantha to use her glowing reputation in the industry and praise him in the press conference, which she refuses to do.
David's demands cause a rift between the two, with Stuart accusing Samantha of her high morals and self-righteousness like Ted. However, after a talk with Ted, she realises that Stuart needs her support and respect and offers to back him up and talk to David herself. But seeing that Samantha is finally on his side, he takes David's responsibility for himself, content that she will back him up in the future.
