Suits LA episode 5, You're on Your Own, aired on March 23, 2025, and brought a new twist to Lester Thompson’s case. Since the beginning, the NBC series has focussed on Ted Black, who has taken it upon himself to defend Lester, who has been accused of killing his production partner, Simon.
The case goes to trial in the new episode, and Ted teams up with Amanda to face off against the prosecutor, Elizabeth Smith, in the court. Meanwhile, Lester makes an admission to Kevin that changes everything about his case.

Suits LA Episode 5 recap: Ted and Stuart have a physical fight
The tensions between Ted and Stuart peak in Suits LA episode 5, and it all happens due to Lester’s trial. In the courtroom, Elizabeth claims she has a motion to present Lester and his wife’s divorce proceedings’ transcripts as evidence in his murder trial.
While Lester’s wife had initially filed for a divorce from him, believing that he had murdered Simon, she later changed her decision and got back with her husband. Since Stuart had represented the woman in the divorce case, Ted believes he provided Elizabeth with the transcripts.
He storms into Stuart’s office and argues with him, while the latter claims he has nothing to do with the incident. The fight soon turns violent as Ted punches Stuart in the face, who then hits back. Meanwhile, Rick and Samantha arrive at the office to stop them.
Suits LA Episode 5 recap: Lester admits to Simon’s murder
Knowing that Elizabeth has used illegal means to get access to the transcripts, Ted comes up with a scheme to hide Lester at his home to buy more time from the court and even keeps his fellow lawyer Amanda in the dark.
Meanwhile, Amanda and Kevin threaten a reporter whose article led to the admission of transcripts as evidence. Despite a signed affidavit by the reporter stating Elizabeth colluded with him to get the transcripts, the judge agrees to admit the documents in court.
Meanwhile, Amanda is heartbroken over Ted blindsiding her and decides to move away from the case, leaving him alone. On the other hand, Kevin and Erica sense something fishy in Lester’s statement to the police and suspect that his statement resembles a movie script.
Their suspicion is proven right when Rick tells Erica that the words have been picked up from a yet-to-be-produced movie script. Realizing that Lester has been lying all along, Kevin barges into his home and warns him to come clean. Lester then admits that he did kill his production partner, Simon.
Suits LA Episode 5 recap: The changing relationship dynamics
Apart from all the courtroom drama, the episode also focuses on the relationship dynamics of the characters. In the 2010 flashback sequences, Ted is ready to propose to Samantha, and even she seems to be interested in settling down.
However, things seem to change when Kevin tells Ted that the mob boss has killed Samantha’s client, an impersonator who pretended to be Billy. Samantha had already warned Ted not to involve her clients in his dangerous case, and the impersonator’s death could be the cause of their troubled relationship.

At present, Erica and Rick talk about their relationship. They express their trust in each other, and Erica tells Rick their dynamics changed as both wanted the same promotion to be the entertainment head in their firm.
