Suits LA Episode 3 recap: Lester’s wife changes the course of his case
Suits LA episode 3 starts with a surprise as Lester’s wife, Valerie, decides to part ways with him and chooses Stuart Lane as her lawyer instead of Ted Black. Meanwhile, Lester claims he was unaware of his wife’s affair with his production partner.
Initially, Valerie believes him and chooses to side with him during his trial. However, in exchange, she wants half the assets they earned during their marriage, leading to an intense argument between Ted and Stuart.
However, soon a picture is received that hints Lester knew about his wife’s affair, which could jeopardize the case and make Lester look guilty of the murder. As Ted and Kevin race to figure out a way around the evidence, Valerie decides to go against Lester, believing he did kill his partner.
When the attorneys and the estranged couple meet to settle the case, Lester realizes he is not wearing his glasses in the picture, and hence, he did not actually see Valerie with his partner. Valerie eventually acknowledges Lester is telling the truth and decides to stand by him in the trial.
Suits LA Episode 3 recap: Brian Baumgartner struggles with being stereotyped
As Ted Black is busy with the criminal case, his entertainment clients are handled by Erica. Brian Baumgartner enters the scene, stating he hates how his The Office character, Kevin Malone, has stereotyped him among the audience. He wants to break free from the typecast and be seen as an Oscar-worthy dramatic actor.
Brian asks Erica to set up a meeting with Tom Hanks, another client of Ted, so he can learn how to transition from a comic to a dramatic actor. Knowing that Tom Hanks would not agree to the meeting, Leah comes up with the idea of bringing actor Patton Oswalt to the law firm.
The meeting between Brian and Patton goes well until the latter pokes fun at the former and says he can never win an Oscar. Brian storms off the office and blames Erica for hurting him. However, in the end, it is revealed that it was Erica and Leah’s plan to hurt Brian’s ego and make him realize what he is actually capable of.
Suits LA Episode 3 recap: Ted and Stuart used to be brothers from different mothers
Suits LA episode 3 delves into Ted and Stuart’s past, showcasing they were as close as brothers and were willing to sacrifice anything for each other. In the past, Ted asked Stuart to represent Jimmy, the man accused of Billy’s death, as a defense attorney.
As the proceedings went on, Stuart revealed to Ted that his father was involved with the mob. If the truth came out, Ted would be fired from the Justice Department. Stuart tried to take the blame on himself, putting his career at risk to protect Ted’s job.
This only made Stuart’s betrayal of Ted even worse. Meanwhile, Ted’s father named Stuart his will’s executor, further hurting him. When Stuart tells Ted that his dad is being buried beside his brother Eddie, the attorney is heartbroken as he blames his father for his brother’s death. In the end, Ted once again sees Eddie’s visions, which convinces him to attend the funeral.
