Suits LA Episode 2 recap: Lester’s case, Rick and Erica’s rivalry, and more

After a premiere full of twists and turns, Suits LA aired its second episode on NBC on March 2, 2025. Titled Old Man Hanrahan, the episode showcases Ted trying to stabilize his firm after Stuart Lane’s betrayal while also working on an important criminal case.

The two primary cases established in the pilot are explored in depth in the second episode. Lester, who has been accused of murdering his production partner, has been hiding key information from his defense lawyers, while Ted still thinks he is innocent.

Suits LA Episode 2 recap: Rick and Erica’s face-off for Dylan

Throughout the episode, Rick Dodsen and Erica Rollins try to outsmart each other to keep Dylan as their client. While the actress had signed on with Rick, his departure from Black and Associates makes Erica her representative.

However, Rick is tasked with poaching Dylan if he wants to get promoted to the Entertainment Head position at Stuart and Samantha’s firm. The attorney decides to do it ethically and convinces Erica to sign a waiver permitting him to represent Dylan’s case.

The actress has found herself in a mess as the producer of her indie film is trying to create a scheduling conflict with her upcoming Warner Bros. movie in hopes of getting monetary benefits.

Erica seems to have a breakthrough when she finds a loophole in the agreement; however, Rick eventually gets to keep Dylan as his client when he finds a way for her to work on both her movies. Meanwhile, during their banter, it is hinted that Rick and Erica used to be more than just colleagues in the past.

Suits LA Episode 2 recap: Lester’s case gets complicated

Amid the ups and downs at the firm, Ted Black is focused on the Lester case. While evidence suggests that he shot and killed the partner of his production company, Lester pleads not guilty, and Ted believes him.

Ted has to go against Elizabeth Smith, a cutthroat attorney known for going to extreme lengths for her clients. He seeks help from his old friend Kevin, who finds out that Lester has been hiding something as he stole money from his partner’s accounts.

Ted then asks Lester to come clean and tell them everything. The producer reveals his partner was embezzling money from their movie’s funds. Hence, he decided to steal that money from his account.

While Ted and Kevin try to figure out a way to protect Lester, Elizabeth comes up with new evidence that shows Lester’s wife was having an affair with his partner, which further complicates the case. Meanwhile, she also runs into Amanda, the pro bono lawyer at Ted’s firm, and the two are revealed to have a history.

Suits LA Episode 2 recap: Ted and Samantha’s past

Like the pilot, the second episode also features several flashbacks that delve into Ted’s past. The sequences depict Ted dating Samantha in 2010 when he worked as a federal prosecutor and she worked as an entertainment lawyer.

They attend one of Samantha’s clients’ comedy shows, where he performs as an impersonator. Ted later employs him to impersonate Billy, the man who died in the blast in the first episode.

This lets him seek clues about the case from an eyewitness named Jimmy. Samantha is unhappy that Ted is using her client for his own gain, which leads to a fallout between the two.

Suits LA airs new episodes on NBC on Sundays.
