Suits: L.A. is the widely anticipated spin-off to the legacy show Suits, which runs for nine seasons with a hundred and thirty four episodes. Suits: L.A. focuses on the trials and tribulations of an entertainment law firm called Black Lane Law on the West Coast. Although Suits: L.A. has been developed as a stand-alone spin-off, audiences have been expecting familiar faces from the original show to make cameo appearances.
A possible cameo appearance by Gabriel Macht on Suits: L.A. reprising his character of Harvey Specter would fulfill a long-standing fan wish, i.e. to see Harvey go to bat for the 'little guys,' or those who are otherwise unable to afford top-dollar legal representation. This would serve as an ideal foil to the previous character arc of Harvey Specter who was arguably a hot-shot lawyer who cared for his huge paycheck and his luxurious lifestyle.
In the absence of official confirmation, we can't say for certain whether Gabriel Macht will reprise his character in a cameo for Suits: L.A., however, here's everything we know about the spin-off and the sources that fuelled this speculation.
Suits: L.A. Harvey Specter cameo probabilities explored
When Suits debuted with its first season back in 2011 across American networks, everyone was enamoured by the suave and professional lawyer in Harvey Specter. His habit of claiming the highest retainers, chasing the biggest cases and representing the richest clients called for some high-octane drama.
Although Harvey's mindset and attitude with respect to riches and his purpose in life changed significantly over the course of the nine seasons and after he came in contact with Mark Ross, Harvey always remained a hustler and a go-getter. Nevertheless, by the end of the original show, Harvey gave up his high-profile corporate legal career and changed gears, opting for a relatively small legal clinic set up by Mark in Seattle.
Lex Scott Davids, who portrays the character of a rising young attorney called Erica Rollins in Suits: L.A. dropped a few hints during the Essence Black Women in Hollywood event earlier this year. In a subsequent interview with People magazine, she stated that although nothing has been officially declared in this direction yet, there might be some familiar cast members being rolled over into Suits: L.A. She added:
"It's not impossible, I would love that myself if there was, but we'll see. You never know."
The buzz surrounding a probable impending reunion was further fuelled by the appearance of several Suits alumni, such as Gabriel Macht, Gina Torress, Patrick J. Adams and Sarah Rafferty, at the 2024 Golden Globes Ceremony to present the award for best drama series to Succession.
In case Gabriel Macht does make an appearance on Suits: L.A., fans will finally watch him defend smaller and everyday clients who would not be able to avail of his services had he not been consulting at Mark's legal clinic.
Gabriel Macht opened up about the end of Suits
Following the season nine finale of Suits, Gabriel Macht spoke to TVInsider about his feelings after the show's end. He stated:
"I feel I’ve put some creative good into the world and now I want to put some creative heart, more focus and energy into (being with) my wife and my family. And explore some other interests that I might have. You know, I think when you’re in Harvey’s head for so long, you sort of split in some ways. And so I’m looking forward to being in Gabriel’s mind.
All nine seasons of the series are available for fans to stream on Netflix.
