Get ready for another big legal drama, cutting remarks, and intriguing characters in a corporate world, as the Suits spin-off series Suits: L.A. has been officially greenlit for production.

Four years after Suits ended in 2019, the TV series featuring Patrick J. Adams, Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, Sarah Rafferty, and Meghan Markle breathed a new life on Netflix.

Following the triumphant success of Suits, and fans' admiration for Harvey Specter and Mike Ross's camaraderie on the show, the show's creator in collaboration with NBCUniversal is set to produce Suits: L.A.

The spin-off was confirmed in October 2023 but was in early stages. However, now as of July 2024, the spin-off has been given a full series order by NBC.

Despite being a spin-off series, Suits: L.A. will also take place in the same universe as the original TV series. However, this time with a new company, characters, and of course a fresh take on the story.

As the title suggests, the spin-off will feature an entertainment law firm in Los Angeles, and will revolve around former federal prosecutor Ted Black from the East Coast, who has moved to Los Angeles.

Actor Stephen Amell has secured the role of Ted, who will work as a defense attorney for powerful entertainment companies, while at the same time, will have secondary thoughts about his profession. According to NBC, the logline of the show reads:

"His firm is at a crisis point and to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives."

Another prominent character in Suits: L.A. is Erica Rollins, a black woman in her thirties, who's thrust into becoming the head of the entertainment division. Since Ted and Erica will be seen working in the same firm, they will undeniably cross paths and their story might mirror the incidents of the original series.

However, the show won't copy the original series, as the makers aim to provide new stories, legal battles, and corporate world drama. To fuel fans' anticipation for the upcoming spin-off, more details about the show's plot and story arcs are kept under wraps.

Who's in the Suits: L.A. show?

While Stephen Amell has helmed the titular role, other actors joining the cast of Suits: L.A. include Lex Scott Davis as Erica, former Walking Dead star Josh McDermitt as lawyer Stuart Lane, who will be seen as Black's partner in his law firm.

Alice Lee has been cast as associate attorney Leah, Troy Winbush will portray a former FBI Agent Kevin who joins Ted Black's firm as a P.I., and Bryan Greenberg is cast as Rick Dodsen in the spin-off.

Currently, there's no confirmation if the cast members from the original series will make a cameo in the spin-off. However, in a conversation with ET's Rachel Smith, Suits actor Patrick J. Adams shared that he's "ready to suit up again" with other co-stars if they get a call for a cameo.

A few acclaimed figures from the industry like John Amos Victoria Justice might also make a guest appearance in the first episode of the spin-off series.

The makers have begun shooting the pilot for Suits: L.A. in April 2024, but NBC did not include the spin-off in their 2024-25 schedule. This indicates that the show will come out between 2025-26, which isn't a long time.

The original series which ran from 2011 to 2019 aired on USA Network, followed by another spin-off titled Pearson on Peacock. Suits: L.A. will premiere on NBC. The exact release date of the show is yet to be announced. Meanwhile, fans can catch up with the bromance between Harvey and Mike on Netflix.
