The first episode of Love is Blind Episode 8 premiered on February 14, 2025. The debut episode featured singles exploring various dates to find their potential connection. Two participants were Joey, a physician associate, and Monica, who worked in Digital Marketing.

On their first date on the social experiment, Joey opened up about his closeness with his family members. He mentioned that he was close to his parents and sisters. Learning about Joey's closeness with his family members, Love is Blind star Monica told him:

"That is a straight-up green flag 'cause you know the ins and outs of girl life."

The first episode featured his date with Monica, 27, who said she was "nervous." Listening to that, he helped her by telling her to take deep breaths. He told her that he would make her feel "comfortable."

Joey described himself as:

"Everyone says that I give off Golden Retriever vibes, so...But now I'm ready to really show who Joey is. I'm excited for it."

When he asked what made her feel comfortable, she said, "Nap." They laughed after he told her to "not take a nap" on him during their date. After Joey asked her to share something about herself, she stated:

"I constantly have music playing."

She mentioned she liked everything except the country, which he felt the same.

"My biggest thing is I love dancing. It could be any song that's playing in the bar. I'll just, like, grab one of my friends, and we'll start swing dancing," said Joey.

Monica shared that she used to swing dance "every single" Wednesday. After learning about each other's love for music and swing dancing, Monica opened up about her family.

She shared about her father, who was from Chile, South America, and that she had a "decent-sized" family there. Soon, she asked the Love is Blind star about his closeness with his family.

"Very big extended family. Very close with all of them. I'm very close with my dad. Him and I remodel properties together, which is so, so fun. Very close to my mom. I talk to them very, very regularly. I would honestly describe my sisters as probably my best friends. We talk, like, literally every day."

Listening to that, Monica replied that he was a "straight-up green flag."

Joey further shared that he has three sisters, one younger, one older, and one who passed away. However, he stated that he always mentioned three sisters. After discussing many things, Love is Blind star Monica noted that it was a "fantastic" first date.

In terms of relationships, Monica told the cameras that nothing had worked out for her and that it was exhausting. She joined the social experiment for something "drastically different" that would hopefully give her a chance.
