The Boys is one of those shows that draws up controversy with each of its successive seasons. Following a highly entertaining fourth season, filming for the upcoming The Boys season five is already underway. Amidst the hype building up to the fifth and final installment of The Boys, actor Sterling K. Brown of This Is Us fame recently dropped a bombshell relating to what could have been his involvement with the Amazon Prime Video show.

In an exclusive interview with Variety Magazine, Sterling K. Brown recently revealed that he once turned down a character that offered a season-long arc on The Boys. Brown added that he was offered the role exclusively by The Boys creator Eric Kripke, with whom he had previously collaborated on the CW drama Supernatural. Brown stated:

"It think it was a bad guy (role), because it was very tempting. But a full-season arc, they are in Toronto — it’s tough. Listen, these are Champagne problems I’m talking about here! But because I’m blessed enough to already have certain things in place, I get a chance to be a bit more choosy.”

Here's everything that we know.

Sterling K. Brown on his career choices

It is a known fact that Sterling K. Brown has successfully established himself as one of the most dependable actors in the trade at the moment. He is long past his days of being a struggling newcomer and, therefore, has the liberty to choose the acting roles that he believes will contribute to his career as a performer. It is owing to this very reason that he turned down the offer to star in The Boys.

He stated that he didn't consider himself to be fit for the role. He added:

"I have no desire to make people think I am something other than what I am. I’m a very flawed, very silly human being, but comfortable with being flawed and comfortable with being silly. And if you want to put something on me, make sure you’re putting it on a canvas that is not already biased, for better or for worse. I’m gonna tell you exactly who I am, and either you choose to roll or you choose not to."

What's the latest buzz about The Boys season 5?

Speculation is rife about the upcoming final season of the Amazon Prime Video show. While fans expect the final season to be nothing short of exhilarating, audiences are also left to speculate about the tonality of the fifth season and whether it shall incorporate any contemporary socio-political events in its narrative.

Erick Kripe appeared on an FYC panel last December along with Antony Starr, Laz Alonso, and Jessie T. Usher. Kripe remarked:

"It’s really fun when it’s the end. It’s hard and it hasn’t hit me yet about the emotion of it. But just from a story point of, you don’t have to keep storylines going into a season beyond that really lets you blow the doors off it in a really exciting way.”

Kripe added about Homelander's role in the fifth season:

"He’s literally all trauma. I think what he plays so beautifully about it is he wants to be a god, but he’s a man. And it’s kind of slowly, or maybe not so slowly, driving him insane."

The Boys is exclusively available on Amazon Prime Video.
