Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is the latest series set in ‘a galaxy far far away,’ that premiered on Disney+ on December 2, 2024. Unlike other shows in the franchise, this one is a coming-of-age story revolving around four children.
Set in the New Republic era, the series follows a group of four kids who get lost in a galaxy and struggle to find their way back home. The show’s first two episodes premiered together, and while the pilot set up the characters and the tone, the next episode moved the plot forward.
Titled Way, Way Out Past The Barrier, episode 2 showcases Wim, Fern, KB, and Neel panicking as they get stuck in space. The droid SM-33 and Jod Na Nawood eventually support the group. Jod Na Nawood is played by Jude Law, who had the following to say when quizzed by ScreenRant:
"The big question is: is he loyal? Is he a threat? What's his intention? But what was wonderful was just being able to look at the canon and go, 'Okay, if he's that, then maybe he can remind people of this. If he's that, maybe he can remind people of that.' Drawing on all of that just meant it was like cherry-picking."
Jod Na Nawood is described as "Force-sensitive" and a new breed of Jedi, but the makers have not revealed a whole lot of details at this stage.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew season 1 episode 2 recap: The Kids take control
The episode starts with Wim, Neel, Fern, and KB being scared after their wild ride into space. They get another surprise when the rusty droid SM-33 turns out to be alive and starts searching for his captain.
Fern steps up and tricks the droid into thinking he killed his captain, making her the new leader. Surprisingly, SM-33 agrees and starts teaching them how to fly the ship. Fern tells SM-33 to take them back to their home planet, 'At Attin,' but the droid has never heard of it.
His memory is damaged because a space rat chewed through his circuits. With no other option, SM-33 sets a course for Port Borgo, a pirate port that is full of resources but can be dangerous at the same time.
While they travel, Wim and Neel explore the ship and find creepy skeletons and shiny Old Republic coins. Back on At Attin, security droids search for the source of some strange activity, not realizing it was caused by the kids’ ship. They capture Wim’s dad, Wendle, and take him to their leader.
The kids land in trouble at Port Borgo in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
When the ship lands at Port Borgo, the kids split up to explore the place. Fern and KB run into Melna, a local woman who warns them the port is unsafe for kids. When they tell her they are from At Attin, Melna does not believe them and says the planet is a myth.
Meanwhile, Wim and Neel stop at a food stall and use one of their Old Republic coins to pay for food. This gets the attention of nearby pirates, including the menacing Vane. When the boys reveal they are from At Attin, the pirates get excited, thinking about the treasure the planet could be hiding.
The boys run away and meet up with the girls but are chased by the pirates. Fern tries to scare the pirates off by firing a blaster, but Vane disarms her. SM-33 shows up just in time and fights off the pirates, but pirate Captain Brutus disables him and captures the kids. They are then locked in a jail cell with no way out.
How do the kids meet Jod Na Nawood in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew?
One of the highest points in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew episode 2 comes when the kids argue about how they ended up in this mess while being locked in the pirates’ prison. Suddenly, a voice is heard from the shadows.
A man named Jod Na Nawood, who is chained up in the same cell, offers to help them escape if they promise to take him with them. The kids doubt him at first, but he does something that makes the group believe him.
He pulls the key to their cell straight into his hand using the Force. Wim is shocked and exclaims, “You’re a Jedi!.” Jod smiles but does not confirm anything. He simply asks the kids to keep his powers a secret.
