In the opening scene of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Episode 7, the parents desperately try to send a message to their children aboard the Onyx Cinder. While The Supervisor's droids discover this rebellious act and ambush them, Fara manages to launch the transmitter and get the message across.

While the opening scene is a heartwarming exploration of how families always stick together no matter what, it also brings back one of the most iconic themes from Star Wars, i.e., a rebel group trying to get a message across while a powerful entity is after them.

One of these iterations can be seen in Rogue One’s best scene, where the members of the Rebel Fleet are trying to communicate plans for the Empire's Death Star to Princess Leia, but they are chased by one of the most dangerous Sith Lords- Darth Vader.

While the stakes are much higher in Rogue One, as the future of the Galaxy lies upon this communication, Skeleton Crew mimics the thematic significance of the scene. One of the rebel soldiers even gets stabbed while trying to thrust the plans through the door, which again establishes a sacrifice is needed to defy tyranny.

Thankfully, nobody dies in this modern tale, and Fara manages to send the message across; the scene was a nice callback to one of Star Wars's common themes.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has mainly been about the children's adventure and their journey as they try to reach their home planet. However, the parents are given a moment to shine in the show's penultimate episode as they try to convey an important message to their children.

Everybody is familiar with At Attin's suspicious nature and how the mysterious supervisor has prohibited all forms of communication from and to the planet. Still, the parents are willing to sacrifice their livelihood to see that their children are brought back to them safely.

The message which instructs them to find the Republic Emissary, is an important aspect of the episode as it helps the children reunite with their parents after the long and tedious adventure. While it is a happy reunion, the consequences the parents will face in the show's finale are yet to be seen. They will also face Jod, who has taken control of At Attin.
