Star Wars: Skeleton Crew aired its penultimate episode, We're Gonna Be in So Much Trouble, on January 7, 2025. The series follows a young set of heroes who accidentally get stuck in space and have to find their way home.

Although the show has so far depicted a fresh storyline with a lighter tone compared to the previous Star Wars projects, one horrific moment in the seventh episode changes the course of the story.

The final scene in the episode reminds of 2005 film, Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, and mirrors one of its most gruesome scenes. In the sequence, Jod Na Nawood takes out his blue lightsaber and threatens to hurt the kids and their parents.

The 2005 film has a similar sequence where Darth Vader brings out his lightsaber to kill a group of terrified younglings. The cliffhanger ending of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Episode 7 has left the audience shocked and waiting for the finale.

In Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Episode 7, as the children — Wim, Fern, KB, and Neel — are reunited with their parents, they try to get back to their home planet, At Attin. However, they come face-to-face with the pirate Jod Na Nawood.

Jod warns the children that if they do not do as he says, he will slash their parents with his blue lightsaber. The episode ends with Jod standing in front of the children and their parents, holding his ignited lightsaber, leaving everyone scared.

The moment looks almost exactly like the scene in Revenge of the Sith, where Darth Vader, after turning to the dark side, uses his blue lightsaber to kill the younglings hiding in the Jedi Temple.

In the film, once Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader and turns to the dark side, he helps Sidious issue Order 66, a command to kill all Jedi across the galaxy. He attacks the Jedi Temple on Coruscant with his clone troopers.

Anakin goes on a killing spree and eventually enters the Jedi Council Chamber where finds a group of younglings hiding. While the children are terrified, Darth Vader ignites his lightsaber and murders all of them without hesitation.

The two scenes look eerily similar, suggesting the kids in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew could suffer the same fate as the younglings in Revenge of the Sith. However, there is a difference in the two situations that could change the outcome.

In the film, the younglings did not have any defense or any means to fight back. But in Skeleton Crew, the children are not alone, they have their parents. Although the parents might not be as skilled in combat as Jedi, they can still try to protect their kids.

Another difference is that Darth Vader, or Anakin Skywalker, was one of the greatest lightsaber fighters in the galaxy, while Jod does not appear to be as skilled. In Revenge of the Sith, Anakin was known for his quick combat skills.

On the other hand, Jod seems less experienced and hence might not be as dangerous. However, the pirate has shown that he will not shy away from bloodshed, when he uses his lightsaber to kill a droid in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Episode 5, You have a Lot to Learn About Pirates.

The final scene of Episode 7 not only references Revenge of the Sith but also builds curiosity around the season finale. Although it is unlikely that Jod will kill everyone as Darth Vader did, the kids and their parents are still in danger, and their fate remains uncertain.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew season finale will be released on Disney+ on January 14, 2025.
