Created by Mike McMahan of Rick and Morty fame, Star Trek: Lower Decks is the sci-fi franchise’s first animated comedy that has built a solid fanbase with its previous four seasons.

The fifth and final season of Star Trek: Lower Decks premiered on October 24, 2024 with two episodes. The release date announcement of the series finale was made at the San Diego Comic-Con during the Star Trek universe panel.

With familiar voices like The Boys’ Jack Quid, Master of None's Noël Wells and Space Force's Tawny Newsome, the final season of the Paramount+ show is all set for the last voyage with Orion war, furious Klingons, a murder mystery, and diplomatic catastrophes.

The fifth and final season of Star Trek: Lower Decks aired its first two episodes on October 24, 2024 on Paramount+.

This season consists of 10 episodes and the remaining eight episodes will be dropping weekly, on every Thursday, with the season finale scheduled on December 19, 2024.

New episodes of Star Trek: Lower Decks can be watched exclusively on Paramount+. All the previous seasons of this animated space sitcom are also available on the streaming platform.

To watch Star Trek: Lower Deck, a paid subscription is required. Currently, Paramount Plus Essential and Paramount Plus with Showtime offer plans costing $8 and $13 a month, respectively.

Since the team is coming together for the last time for Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5, a journey full of adventures is guaranteed.

The season 4 finale ended on a cliffhanger, with Lieutenant D'Vana Tendi (Noël Wells) sacrificing her Starfleet career to help the USS Cerritos' crew rescue Lt. Beckett Mariner (Tawny Newsome).

While Tendi’s departure made Lt. Sam Rutherford (Eugene Cordero) sad, the rest of the Lower Deckers were certain that she would return to Starfleet in the fifth season.

These storylines are sure to be explored in the final season of the show. As the official plot synopsis reads:

"The crew of the USS Cerritos is tasked with closing 'space potholes' — subspace rifts which are causing chaos in the Alpha Quadrant. Pothole duty would be easy for Jr Officers Mariner, Boimler, Tendi and Rutherford... if they didn’t also have to deal with an Orion war, furious Klingons, diplomatic catastrophes, murder mysteries and, scariest of all — their own career aspirations. This upcoming season is a celebration of this underdog crew who are dangerously close to being promoted out of the lower decks and into strange new Starfleet roles."
