"Stakes just get higher": Invincible Season 3 creator teases trouble for Mark in the new installment

Good news for Invincible fans as Invincible season 3 is just about to release. Viewers can't contain their excitement for the upcoming season. Co-creator Simon Racioppa has shared some insights into what's in store for Mark Grayson (voiced by Steven Yeun).

This season is all set to highlight a deeper insight into the conflict with Viltrumites challenging Mark to confront the power while navigating through various threats. In an interview with Collider, Racioppa revealed that this season will also venture into outer space with Viltrumites. He said,

"We sort of go-to interesting different places like that. So I think the stakes just get higher emotionally as well as dramatically."

Racioppa hinted that Mark's journey will be more intense on both a global and personal scale. He continued,

"Things just get more complicated for Mark. You know on a dramatic, like family scale, but also on a global scale."

For a quick recap, Invincible is an animated superhero show based on the comic by Robert Kirkman. The plot follows Mark Grayson, a teenager who inherits supernatural abilities from his father, Nolan (voiced by J.K Simmons), who secretly has an alter ego.

As Mark faces his dual identity he also has to deal with extraterrestrial enemies like Viltrumites, an alien who is known for dominating Earth. In Invincible Season 1 Mark and his father Nolan's relationship was explored while in Season 2 we see Mark venturing to other planets to keep Earth safe from extraterrestrial beings.

Mark's struggles intensify in Invincible Season 3

Racioppa revealed that Season 3 will dig deeper into Mark's personal life and global issues. As per the trailer, Mark Grayson will be grappling with ethical, physical, and emotional challenges. With the challenges and threat of the Viltrumite Empire, Mark is forced to train harder than anybody. His younger brother Oliver also grows massively due to his Thraxan blood. However, it is on Mark to guide his immature younger brother Oliver.

Invincible Season 3 is also expected to feature the highly awaited Invincible war storyline. Angstrom Levy, after secretly surviving his death, is up for ultimate chaos. Season 2 was heavily focused on Levy setting the stage for the upcoming war. While Mark believed that he killed Levy, the villain's return would be shocking for him. The final scene of the show also shows Mark in an all-blue suit.

As per the comics, Mark gets in the most stunning fights with the supervillains in this very blue suit. It marks an important moment for Mark as he might be seen confronting powerful enemies like Viltrumite conquest and Powerplex and clashes with allies like Cecil and Gary. The suit adds to the upcoming dramatic events in the story.

When will Invincible Season 3 be released?

Invincible Season 3 is all set to premiere on February 6, 2025, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. The first three episodes will be released on the premiere day while the other episodes will be released every Thursday until the finale episode on March 13, 2025.
