What happens in St. Denis Medical’s Season 1 Episode 4?
The fourth episode of "St. Denis Medical", titled "Salamat You Too", shows a group of nurses' breaks being interrupted by the head nurse, Alex (Allison Tolman), who addresses their earlier insubordination. The group, who call themselves the "Filipino Mafia", were very unhappy when Alex separated the group, so they ignored her orders and stayed together.
To regain her authority, Alex goes to the dry-erase board to remind her colleagues who is in charge, and this requires a six-part explanation with a confusing acronym. At the center of this scene is Alex. She runs the meeting: orders are given, passionate speeches are given and gestures are used. Tolman successfully portrays relatable frustration in her subtly sarcastic instructions, which is quite funny. The funniest moments, however, happen in the background.
Ron and Serena have a playfully serious argument about parking etiquette. They have a hilarious exchange about their different opinions on how someone should park properly. Things get heated when Ron mistakenly scratches Serena's car to make her understand the frustration of parking too close. But eventually, it's Serena who wins, as she tells Ron that she will be the bigger person.
Meanwhile, Bruce cannot accept not being cast for the featured staff. Viewers can tell he loves being in the spotlight, and by the end of the episode, he is retained and nominated again for Q3.
Alex also finds common ground with the Filipino Mafia after realizing she has overstepped her boundaries. She shares her struggles, explaining that she is not well paid and is married to someone who sells grass seeds, not a wealthy man. This revelation softened the group, and in the end, everything returned to normal.
