With the release of Squid Game Season 2, fans are introduced to fresh faces and intriguing new characters. Kang Dae-ho (Player 388), Hyun-ju (Player 120), Thanos (Player 230), and—of course—Jun-hee (Player 222), portrayed by Korean singer and actress Jo Yuri, are some of the most notable characters in the second season.
In a recent interview, Jo Yuri opened up about how he secured the role of Player 222 and mentioned that she had to pass several auditions to land this role. She portrays a young pregnant woman who runs into her ex-boyfriend in the deadly competition.
Unlike most of the players, Jun-hee didn't talk much about her past life and the motivation behind joining the deadly survival game. However, Squid Game Season 2 did reveal that Player 222 is currently expecting, and she lost a significant amount of money due to her ex-boyfriend Lee Myeong-gi (Player 333).
Myeong-gi is a crypto scammer who gives poor advice to his subscribers on his YouTube channel and then disappears. Interestingly, Thanos was also among his subscribers who ended up getting killed later in the season.
As for Jo Yuri's Player 222, she was romantically involved with Myeong-gi, but he eventually broke up with her. Now that they are both in the game, Jun-hee is making an effort to get by without asking her ex-boyfriend for help.

Jo Yuri reveals how she secured the role of Player 222 in Squid Game Season 2
After watching Jo Yuri in Squid Game Season 2, many might compare her to the memorable Sae-byeok, played by Ho-yeon in Season 1, as she also gained immense popularity through her role. They play very different roles, though, as Player 222 is a young pregnant woman who needs to win the game in order to save her unborn child.
Following her popularity among Squid Game enthusiasts, Jo Yuri sat in an interview and revealed how she landed the role of Jun-hee, aka Player 222. The Korean actress and singer shared that she was in Busan when her company informed her about the audition.
However, she made it on time and passed the first audition. Jo Yuri wasn't confident about the second round, but she ensured giving her best shot. The Love Shhh! singer said:
"But a few days later, I got the call saying I passed the second audition, and immediately called for the third audition. And I did a final fourth audition as well."
She added:
"My director usually doesn’t call me during work hours, but my phone kept ringing, so I picked up and they told me that I got the role."
Jo Yuri was thrilled to know that she had been cast in Squid Game Season 2, and considering her growing popularity, it was worth the effort in the end. The singer also expressed her desire to take on an action role, as she's passionate about the genre.

Will Jo Yuri's Player 222 appear in Squid Game Season 3?
Yes, Jo Yuri's Player 222 will appear in the final chapter as she has evolved into a key character. As seen in Squid Game Season 2, Jun-hee seems to be a weak player due to her condition but is accompanied by the main characters during the game.
She joined Gi-hun's group during the six-leg pentathlon, and together, they all made it out alive. However, when it came to joining the rebellion in the end, Player 222 didn't join them as she could not risk her baby's life.
Additionally, she might form a close bond with Kang Dae-ho (Player 388), who seems to be curious about her. However, the fates of each character are currently hanging in the balance as Squid Game Season 2 ended with the most unexpected cliffhanger.
