It is April Fools' Day on Spring Baking Championship Season 11 Episode 4, and host Jesse Palmer is having a blast.
As soon as the contestants rolled, they saw fresh eggs and a weird-looking guy, who looked similar to Jesse but wasn't Jesse, but was claiming that he was Jesse, welcoming them. Turns out that it was Duff Goldman trying to trick them.
The challenge is presented to the contestants. They are required to bake something that looks like eggs but isn't eggs, of course. It has to be beautiful. Duff asks the bakers to fill the centre of their creation with something that resembles the yolk.
This challenge, Priya was extremely excited, as she is a chocolatier and had won previous rounds. She wanted to showcase her artistic abilities as a baker and said in a confessional,
"Today is the day that I actually get to show off a little bit. I make chocolate eggs around spring, and if you are making a chocolate egg, then you need to make sure that your chocolate is properly tempered."
However, Jon'nae wasn't so sure about the whole deal. She was confident about the inside of the egg but claimed that she does not temper the chocolate and thus, feels scared about the outside. She decided to do a cake pop.
Spring Baking Championship Season 11 Episode 4 - Who won the egg challenge?
Corey decided that he would do a hard chocolate shell on the outside of his egg, and wants a "blend of different textures." Inside, he will have a milk chocolate mousse filled with a citrus orange curd and a chocolate cookie crunch.
As for Raveena, she decided to "wow" the judges and wanted her eggs to look like blue Robin's eggs and then decorate them with Spring flowers.
Mary Frances planned to do a mango pastry cream for the centre of the egg and fill it with banana coconut cake. It will have a blond chocolate shell on top, decorated with a spring flower "on top like a crown."
Julian shared his thoughts on not using his Gift of Immunity during last week's challenge despite being on the bottom because he "barely squeaked by." But he does not regret it as he still has the gift and could use it anytime.
However, he is planning on doing a lot of decorating this time and has even decided to make a tree, with branches and a nest inside of which his egg will be placed.
By the end of the Spring Baking Championship challenge, Jon'nae was struggling the most because her shells wouldn't pop out of the mold, and it was just 15 minutes left. Julian, with his extensive decoration, was also running low on time. Ultimately, Priya won the round and won a "massive advantage." It is a gift to trade ingredients.
Spring Baking Championship Season 11 Episode 4 - The deception round and elimination
The second Spring Baking Championship challenge was to serve judges savory dishes, but those will be baked goods inside.
Priya instantly used her advantage and traded her item with Corey, who was happy to do so. By the end, Lisa, who had a roasted chicken deception, was able to impress the judges, and she won the round.
Jon'nae and Kareem were up for elimination by the end of the Spring Baking Championship episode. Neither of their deceptive dishes was liked by the judges, as Kareem's fish was too sweet, and as for Jon'nae, her fried fish cake lacked flavour and deception both. Ultimately, Jesse announced it was Jon'nae who was sent out of the competition.
