Two veteran actors, Amy Aquino and Andrew Robinson, have recently joined the upcoming live-action series adaptation of the Marvel comic character: Spider-Noir. The latter will be coming to MGM+ and Prime Video, focusing its storyline on the plot of a private investigator going through old age in 1930s New York City.

He must once again face the dark secrets related to his superhero past. Nicolas Cage headlined this one, but besides him was quite a wonderful, talented cast—Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, and others. While specific details about Aquino's and Robinson's characters remain undisclosed, their inclusion adds depth to an already impressive lineup.

The premise for Spider-Noir

A private investigator grapples with his dual identity as a superhero in Spider-Noir, an alternate take on New York City during the 1930s. Nicolas Cage plays the titular character, who is described as having been down on his luck and crumbling under the weight of his past.

The Sony Pictures Television-produced series is set to be helmed by Harry Bradbeer, who has previously worked on Fleabag and Killing Eve. The series is said to entwine crime drama with superhero elements, which will be a peculiarly funny experience for viewers.

Amy Aquino

Amy Aquino possesses versatility as an actress. She featured in various shows like Bosch as Lt. Grace Billets. Her latest works include shows like The Good Fight and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Her work in Spider-Noir is yet to be uncovered but for the sake of dramatics and comedies that have filled her work resume, much can be seen about the actress that would further boost the play.

Andrew Robinson

More of a less remembered star-actor, but best remembered for his great performances when playing iconic characters such as the Scorpio Killer in Dirty Harry and Garak in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He has been acting for more than several decades. He has also directed several plays and has written some works, including a memoir. So when Andrew Robinson is cast in Spider-Noir, gravitas is added to the series from him because of his background in acting and directing.

The production crew of Spider-Noir

Co-showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot spearhead this show. Both of them have extensive work experience in their previous ventures within the Marvel universe and beyond. The team goes about completely reimagining Spider-Man Noir, depicting him through an outline of redemption and identity in the crime-ridden city.

Filming started back in August 2024 and it will continue till February 2025. The involvement of established names like Cage, along with the new additions of Aquino and Robinson, positions Spider-Noir as a highly anticipated entry into the expanding landscape of superhero television adaptations.

In summary, Spider-Noir is shaping up to be an interesting series that combines noir storytelling with superhero lore. With Nicolas Cage leading a talented cast that now includes Amy Aquino and Andrew Robinson, audiences can expect a rich narrative set against the historical context of 1930s New York City.

As production progresses, more details about character roles and plot developments are anticipated, keeping fans eager for its release on MGM+ and Prime Video.
