Sister Wives cast member Meri Brown got legally married back in 1990 and was part of a polygamous relationship. However, the couple parted ways through a legal divorce and then a spiritual split due to the shifts in their family dynamics and unresolved problems.
In an exclusive interview with Parade Magazine on January 12, 2025, Meri talked about dating again. She talked about the challenges while discussing what she is looking for in a potential love interest. Listing down the qualities she wanted in her future partner, Meri said that she wanted to be with someone who would match her energy:
"Somebody who's independent. Somebody who can treat me with kindness and honesty and respect, who can meet my energy. Probably tall. I want a tall guy. And also who my dog loves. And he loves my dog."
Sister Wives star Meri opens up about the challenges while dating
In her interview, the Sister Wives cast member opened up about her love life, stating she was looking for a partner. She shared that she was "dating" but "nobody exclusive' yet in her hometown. Meri discussed being part of the dating pool in a small town, mentioning its disadvantages and advantages. She said,
"It's a little bit weird … I live in a small town that has a very, very, very, very small dating pool. So I need to spread my wings. Go to Vegas or Salt Lake [City]."
For Meri, connecting with new people online is easier as she struggles with figuring out how to meet others "organically." According to the Sister Wives cast member, men aren't initiating conversation with women when it comes to modern dating, she elaborated:
"I hear people say men don't talk to women anymore. They don't, you know? So it has to be the woman to take the initiative. And I'm like, I don't want that. If I have to take the initiative and be [the] boss man, then I'm not interested. The guy needs to do that."
Meri shared her ideal first date as going for dinner, watching a movie, or taking a walk in the park. She mentioned that she was open to other options and was exploring a new side of herself after her split from Kody Brown. Meri explained that she would prefer going on dates that have more interaction so that she can connect and get to know people better.
One lesson Sister Wives star Meri has learned from getting back into the dating pool is clarity on what she wants in a partner and expectations from a romantic relationship. She concluded by mentioning she was ready to start a new chapter of her life.
"I feel like sitting down and having a conversation limits what you can do. When you're out and about and you're doing something, whether it's just a walk in the park or skiing, I don't know, whatever, you can kind of interact a little bit more. I'm learning about myself while I do it, and learning about what I do and don't want, [and] what I will [and] I won't tolerate."
New episodes of Sister Wives premiere weekly on Sundays at 10 PM ET, airing exclusively on TLC. Fans can follow Meri on her official Instagram account to stay updated with what she has been up to.
