Married at First Sight: Australia is a series in which single contestants get a chance to find love through the help or professionals and relationship experts. The paired contestants get married and navigate their connection through guidance from those experts. Paul and Carina are one of the couples this season who were working on building an emotional as well as physical bond.

During the final task, Paul went on a date with a potential new love prospect out of curiosity. Carina was upset at this situation meanwhile Paul viewed it as a simple task. He admitted wanting to say yes to the task just out of curiosity. During his exclusive interview with 9Now Entertainment on March 25, 2025, Paul said if Carina got that task and chose to go on a date he wouldn't be bothered by it.

The Married at First Sight: Australia star said he trusted Carina and was "secure" in his relationship. He continued:

"If roles were reversed and if Carina had decided to go on that date... it would have not bothered me, because I was so secure in my relationship and I'm so confident in myself and in what I'm bringing to the relationship – and I was trusting Carina."

Married at First Sight: Australia cast member Paul clarified his intentions

The Married at First Sight: Australia star stated that there was no "malicious" intent after he accepted the task to go on a date. For the final task, Paul had to go meet someone new, however when he returned from the date he regretted his decision to go. Paul could sense that his actions could cause problems in his relationship as Carina questioned if he was looking for someone new. Paul opened up about his feelings, he said:

"I wasn't thinking straight, there was no malicious intentions but I took the decision to go on that date. I wasn't hoping to get anyone better, I wasn't hoping to even have fun I just remember thinking - cool, whatever, just another task."

Paul's fellow cast mate, who had been paired with Carina during the partner swap stage Teejay was unsure as to why the Married at First Sight: Australia went on a date. He said:

"It just didn't make sense why Paul would even entertain going in. After their Homestays, they were talking about Carina meeting Paul's family, moving in together and what's after the experiment."

Meanwhile, Carina was surprised at Paul's decision she was sure he would say no and was disappointed when he didn't. She told the cameras during her confessional interview recalling the moment Paul agreed to the final task, she said:

"Instantly, as soon as I read that task I was like... I wonder what he would do. Surely he won't. When he made that decision, I was like... what the f*ck."

The upcoming episodes will showcase how Carina and Paul's decision-making process would impact their final thought process behind continuing their relationship or parting ways. New episodes of Married at First Sight Australia are released exclusively on Nine Network.
