"So despicable yet entertaining": The White Lotus' Patrick Schwarzenegger shares thoughts on shocking incest scene in Season 3

In the previous episode, The White Lotus Season 3 stunned viewers with the drunken kiss between the Ratliff brothers Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola).

However, the shocking incest encounter between the brothers doesn’t end there, as in Episode 6 we see Saxon waking up to hazy flashbacks of the Full-Moon Party. In his flashbacks, Saxon saw himself and his brother indulge in more than just kissing each other.

While talking to Elite Daily, Schwarzenegger shared that people will have opinions about the bold and audacious scene, but it was also fun. He said:

"They can't take their eyes off of it. Everyone's going to have an opinion. It's so despicable, yet entertaining and fun."

The White Lotus Season 3: Patrick Schwarzenegger talked about filming the unsettling scene

With many new developments in the story such as the incestuous sexual encounters between the Ratliff brothers, The White Lotus has maintained its unpredictable nature.

Patrick Schwarzenegger, who plays Saxon Ratliff, told Elite Daily that he was shocked as well by the disturbing bedroom scene with his brother Lochlan and Aimee Lou Wood’s Chelsea. He said:

"I knew to a degree that wild things were going to happen. I didn't know to what degree. When I read it, my mouth was on the floor. I was in shock at where the storyline went."

He further expressed how weird it felt while filming the scenes in the recent The White Lotus Season 3 episodes, but he took it as a challenge. He stated:

"It was a weird scene, but as an actor, it’s a moment where you get to shine. I got to dig deep and prove some of my work. It’s fun to kind of test the waters."

He further added:

"At the end of the day, I try not to judge what the characters do as Patrick because my opinion doesn't really matter. It is really the character I'm portraying, who’s really messed up, and learning things."

Other than the unsettling incestuous scenes, Schwarzenegger also went full n*de in an early episode of The White Lotus Season 3.

The White Lotus Season 3: Patrick Schwarzenegger shares how the scene will help Saxon's character

While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Schwarzenegger shared that startling the viewers was not the primary purpose of the scenes. He trusts showrunner Mike White’s story, which will eventually impact Schwarzenegger’s character Saxon’s storyline in The White Lotus Season 3.

He said:

"There’s some sensationalism, but then there’s also the stuff behind the wall of the character and what he’s dealing with in the conflict of what just happened. What is that going to do to who he thinks he is? His thoughts on, what is it like to be a man? What is a man? What makes all these different things that he thought he stood for in the episode and the days before?"

Talking about how his character has been designed by Mike, he mentioned,

"Mike [White, creator] does a great job with my character with that scene, but also in past seasons of always bringing something that is really fun and outrageous and sparks a conversation that gets people talking, but also has to do a lot with the pilgrimage of the characters’ story and where he’s going. "

He continued,

"And here, especially with the relationship Saxon has with his little brother. There’s always more than what just meets the eye of the shock value on the screen."
