"So busy on pursuing your dream": Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary shares his honest opinion on balancing personal and professional life

Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary opened up about how personal life affects professional life via an April 12, 2025 video clip. He mentioned that having a "balance" is necessary to perform better and deliver results.

Kevin O'Leary talked about keeping your "significant other" happy even if you cannot spend more time with them. He also mentioned that keeping your partner happy is important while you are "busy" pursuing your dream. Admitting it was "tough," he stated it is "worth" maintaining.

"You need that balance. So invest some time in making sure your significant other is happy, even though you may not spend that much time with them because you're so busy on pursuing your dream. You can't get there unless you have happiness. It's tough to get, but worth maintaining," shared the Shark Tank mentor.

In his latest video clip, shared via the social media platform Instagram, Kevin O'Leary shared his honest opinion about "balance." He was talking about balancing personal and professional life.

For that, the O'Leary Ventures chairman captioned the video clip with:

"Success? You measure it in happiness. If your personal life is a disaster, your work suffers. Balance is key. Make sure your significant other is happy—trust me, it matters."

Shark Tank's mentor questioned how one can know what determines success in "personal life." If there was something through which one can "measure" how happy you are, what if your personal life is "miserable." He mentioned that if that were the case, your professional life would be "very hard."

To overcome that, one needs to have a "balance" and invest time in making your partner "happy." Having said that, the Shark Tank mentor also stated that even though you do not have much time to spend with your partner, it is important to keep some time aside for them.

He talked about pursuing a dream and working hard for that. However, to reach there, he mentioned that without being "happy" and having the "happiness," it is "tough." Still, maintaining that balance is essential.

In another video clip shared on April 8, 2025, the Shark Tank investor opened up about how his family "influences" his business.

"They look at everything I'm doing, particularly in business, and they have opinions. I don't always agree with them. I don't always take their recommendations. But I certainly listen," said Kevin O'Leary.

He added that the "best" thing in life is to shut up and listen. He added that listening to what your wife says is "very important."
