Fans of The Boys are eager to find out what's in store for their favorite characters as the show heads into its final season. One question on everyone's mind is the fate of Hughie Campbell, portrayed by Jack Quaid.
During promotion for his new movie, Quaid shared a hint about Hughie's future, describing the show's conclusion as:
“It's gonna be so bittersweet.”
When Collider approached him at the lively Novocaine NASCAR event in Austin, he willingly disclosed,
“It really is. It’s changed everything in my life for the better. I couldn't be more grateful for the show, and I'm gonna cry like a baby when it’s over.”
Hughie's journey might be full of emotional challenges, even though he didn't give specific details. The actor's words hint at a potentially tough road ahead.
What to expect in The Boys Season 5?
The new season of The Boys is being kept under wraps, but some important info has come out. They're filming in Toronto, and the main actors, Karl Urban, Antony Starr, and Erin Moriarty, are back as Billy Butcher, Homelander, and Starlight.
The big news? Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins are joining too, though we don't know their roles yet. This makes the show's finale even more thrilling, and we can even expect a pivotal crossover between the two shows. There's a lot more about their potential appearance here.
Last season ended with huge cliffhangers, like who's in charge between Homelander and Butcher and the tension within The Boys group. There's a lot going on, especially with Butcher's health and Hughie's inner battles. This means Season 5 will be just as chaotic as, if not more than, the previous seasons.
Eric Kripke, who created the show, says the ending will be surprising but good. He's not guaranteeing everyone's safety, not even Hughie's. So that's one huge question weighing fans down, yet keeping them pumped.
Jack Quaid’s growing career beyond The Boys
Jack Quaid may be best known for playing Hughie in the Prime Video series, but his career is taking off in other areas. Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid's son, Jack, has sort of embraced his "nepo baby" tag and was even seen at the Oscars 2025 recently, striking poses and being his goofy self.
His latest horror-comedy, Companion, has done better than anyone thought it would with a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have been saying great things about him and his co-star, Sophie Thatcher.
At CBR, they're calling the movie
“A thrilling action film with macabre humor.”
On top of that, Jack has been busy doing voice work for animations. You can hear him in Star Trek: Lower Decks and DC’s My Adventures with Superman. He’s really good at switching between live-action, cartoons, and different types of movies and shows. This keeps his career going strong even after this show ends.
Speaking of The Boys, the fifth and final season is the last one where we will get to see Hughie. So, fans are eager to find out if he makes it through in one piece.
For now, fans can watch The Boys on Prime Video, as all the earlier seasons are ready to stream there.
