Slow Horses Season 5 release window confirmed by Apple TV+ (& it’s sooner than you think)

Slow Horses has become one of the longest-running shows on Apple TV+, having released four seasons since its premiere in 2022. At a time when streaming shows take years to return to the television screens, this spy thriller has set a precedent by ensuring only a few months’ gap between seasons.

Slow Horses Season 5 is now expected to follow suit, as per the official release window announced by Apple TV+. The streaming platform has confirmed that the next installment of the Gary Oldman starrer will premiere in the summer of 2025.

Based on Mick Herron’s novel series Slough House, the show revolves around a low-level team of MI5 agents, which is generally looked down upon. However, the agents, led by Jackson Lamb, get involved in some high-stakes cases to protect Britain from serious threats.

Slow Horses Season 5 to premiere in the summer of 2025

Apple TV+ has launched a video giving glimpses of all the shows that will be arriving on the platform in the summer, and Slow Horses Season 5 happens to be one of them. Hence, audiences will have to wait just a few months before Jackson Lamb and his team return to the screen with new adventures.

The previous season of the show aired in September and October 2024, and with a summer 2025 release window for the fifth chapter, the gap between the two seasons could be less than a year. A similar trend has been followed in the previous installments as well.

The series debuted in April 2022 and was followed by a sophomore season in December of the same year. The third season then started airing in November 2023.

All the previous chapters have been well-appreciated by fans and critics. Meanwhile, a sixth season has also been confirmed by Apple TV+ and is currently in production.

Slow Horses Season 5 will be based on Mick Herron’s book London Rules and will showcase a series of attacks in the city, after which the Slough House team will have to get into action.

Meanwhile, computer nerd and tech expert Roddy Ho’s new girlfriend will somehow be connected to the attacks, which will further complicate the case. The official synopsis for the upcoming season reads:

“In season 5 of Slow Horses, everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected. After all, Jackson Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, 'London Rules' should always apply.”

Created by Will Smith, the show stars Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb, Jack Lowden as River Cartwright, Hugo Weaving as Frank Harkness, Kristin Scott Thomas as Diana Taverner, Christopher Chung as Roddy Ho, Saskia Reeves as Catherine Standish, Rosalind Eleazar as Louisa Guy, Aimee-Ffion Edwards as Shirley Dander, and Naomi Wirthner as Molly Doran.

The series has earned several accolades over the years, including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, along with nominations at the Golden Globe Awards and the BAFTA Awards.
