Apple TV+'s hit thriller Slow Horses is reaching its finale, with just one episode left to conclude the ongoing narrative and make room for another chapter. The fourth installment began with the titular M15 agent River Cartwright in France, facing notable challenges after the London bombing.

Slow Horses focuses on some British intelligence agents demoted to work and sent to Slough House, basically a dumping ground for these agents. However, as the series began we saw agent River Cartwright (Jack Lowden) carrying out missions to save his country.

This time, he's determined to take down the season's biggest foe: Frank Harkness (played by Hugo Weaving). Throughout Slow Horses Season 4, fans have been waiting for the finale to reveal River's connection with Frank.

As seen in episode 4, River discovered that his mother was one of the women who lived in Les Arebres, highlighting his complicated family background. Fans are waiting for the last episode to reveal that Frank is River's father who was involved in impregnating River Cartwright's mother and other women.

Now that River's mother's past has been revealed, he isn't far from learning that Frank Harness isn't just his biggest enemy but his biological father. The fifth episode begins with River trying to meet his grandfather but ends up getting captured by Emm Flyte.

Meanwhile, Frank started pressuring Molly to provide him with the M15 codes, which he could use against the team. His actions are driven by a personal vendetta against River and his grandfather, strongly hinting they have a shared past.

Following his capture, River is interrogated by Emma, and weighs on protecting his grandfather at any cost, reflecting his strong bond with him. However, Emma couldn't keep him for long, as Frank launched a dramatic attack on her team. This led to River being kidnapped.

Slow Horses Season 4 Episode 5 reached its end when David (Jonathan Pryce) finally revealed River's connection to Frank, during his interrogation with Jackson Lamb.

Since David is suffering from dementia, he lived Lamb's lie that River is dead, and confessed to helping Frank in the creation of a deniable assassination squad, only to save his daughter, whom Frank had captured.

However, River is alive and Lamb knows the secret. It would be intriguing to watch how the titular character will confront Frank after learning the truth. The episode highlighted River's struggles while dealing with the world of espionage.
