Netflix’s new documentary Sweet Bobby: My Catfish Nightmare, chronicles how Kirat Assi was the victim of catfishing for almost over a decade. The docufilm is based on the 2021 multipart podcast series by Tortoise Media that followed, “one of the world’s most sophisticated catfishers.”
Kirat Assi, a former radio presenter, was cheated for almost a decade by someone within her inner circle who pretended to be Bobby Jandu. However, the real Bobby, also part of their London Sikh Community, had no idea that someone was using his name to catfish Kirat.

It was eventually revealed that the scammer posing as Bobby Jandu was Simran Bhogal, Assi’s cousin.
Since the documentary came out, X users have been losing their minds over this Simran individual and how sick and twisted she has been in her exploitation of Assi.
X user @tusharbharadia expressed what most users feel after watching Sweet Bobby: My Catfish Nightmare.
“just finished watching #SweetBobby, and i hope the internet does its thing and finds the real Simran Bhogal walking around and publishing her everywhere. She doesn't deserve to have any privacy after what she's done.”

To emphasize how demented Simran really is, a user @IrisShowJunkie wrote,
"The podcast shows Simran Bhogal is more demented and psychotic than shown on Netflix. I can see criminal minds or law and order modeling a character after her #SweetBobby"
Where is Simran Bhogal now as Twitter users are all for tracking her down?
When Assi finally figured out who was catfishing her and reported it to the police, she was told that instead of her, it was the real Bobby who was the victim.
Moreover, Bhogal was not charged with any criminal allegations as there are no solid laws against catfishing. However, when Assi took Bhogal to civil court, on charges of misuse of private information, harassment, and data protection breaches, the latter had to pay “substantial damages” along with legal costs. Bhogal also wrote a private apology letter to Assi.
During the time of the release of the Sweet Bobby podcast, Bhogal worked at a London firm and traveled often. However, in the final episode of the podcast, which aired in November 2021, it was revealed that Bhogal had left her job.
She had also deleted all her social media accounts and ceased having any online presence.
In response to the podcast, Simran and her lawyers gave a statement to Tortoise Media:
“This matter concerns a family dispute over events that began over a decade ago when I was a school girl. As far as I am concerned, this is a private family matter that has been resolved, and I strongly object to the numerous unfounded and seriously defamatory accusations that have been made about me, as well as details of private matters that have been shared with the media.”
Reportedly, Assi no longer cares about the reasons that made Bhogal catfish her. She just wants her to take accountability for what she did and how she ruined her life. Assi said,
“I just want her to take responsibility for her actions, and put her hands up and just say, ‘Look, I did this.’ Tell us how she did it, and allow herself to be held to account,”
Now, with Assi's case being reopened by the police and the Netflix documentary creating a buzz among the viewers regarding finding Simran, it is left to be seen if she is ever caught.
