"Simply couldn't breathe" - Love is Blind: Germany star Shila talks about her engagement with Tolga 

Love is Blind: Germany star Shila came to the reunion alone and revealed her engagement with Tolga. The couple had made headlines earlier because of their relationship, and Shila has now shared her side of the story.

On the Love is Blind: Germany reunion, released on Netflix on January 19, 2025, Shila addressed how she felt while engaged. When asked by the hosts that she was a "different woman on Crete," she explained,

"From that moment on in Greece, I was speechless. I just didn't know what was wrong and who this person facing me was... I believe in this experiment. The decision to accept the engagement was not easy. I wanted to stick to that decision and believe in it. I didn't want to call it off. I simply couldn't breathe."

Love is Blind: Germany - Shila shared the conversation between her and Tolga

Getting emotional at the Love is Blind: Germany reunion, Shila shared everything Tolga said to her. In a montage of clips, we also see how Tolga used to claim that Shila "have to cook" or he feels as if he's in "prison" with the whole marriage situation on Love is Blind.

In one of the clips from Love is Blind, Tolga even mentions that if he got a chance to do this experiment again, he would change certain things, while Shila had said earlier that she would change nothing.

Continuing about the same, Shila said,

"And as soon as the cameras were gone... he said things like 'Well, you don't get what it means to be reduced to your looks. Hanni does, that's why we get along.' Just imagine, you're there, all dressed up, with make-up, and then you hear that. It went like that the whole time."

Steffi and Chris were stunned and asked Tolga why he would behave that way with a "beautiful" woman who got engaged to him blindly on Love is Blind. Explaining, Tolga said,

"I couldn't cope with the pressure on Crete. I may seem confident and like a match, but it's all a facade. And if I can't deal with moments, I don't want to show emotion. I don't want to show emotions to not seem vulnerable. I mean, I'm working on that. I'm reflecting, but I can't manage."

Steffi then asks Tolga what he meant when he said Shila felt like a "strange woman" to him. He said,

"The levity we had in Sweden was gone, the levity of the pods. Everything was so tough, a new situation. I couldn't cope with it."

This response seemed to have angered Shila who replied by saying,

"Hearing all those things from you, it's pretty normal not to be all chill, cool, and nice. I can't do it. I'm a strong woman. I'm a confident woman. I'm tough. But I can be vulnerable too. I think as he noticed that he can't pull off his sh*t show with me, he instantly lost interest."

Denying all of that, Tolga claimed that it was not true. He apologized for anything that he did that might have hurt Shila. Chiming in, Daniel also mentioned that Tolga is a human and might have made a mistake, but as far as he knows him, Tolga is an amazing person. Interrupting him at the Love is Blind reunion, Shila said,

"Just to interject, asking your bros if a man is good is completely different from a woman's opinion. He's a good bro to you, but he was not good to me. We were at the beach on a date, and there was a sandcastle."

Sharing an instance from their relationship on Love is Blind, Shila continued,

"A large sandcastle obviously built by a little child, and we walk past that and he says, 'Look, a sandcastle. Shall I destroy it?' And I said no. I wanted to pull him away and he jumps on the castle and destroys it. In that moment, I asked myself how one person can be like that. With so little respect for others, for me. And that was just, I did not feel well."

Seeing her cry in front of him, Tolga apologized for how he had treated Shila while they were engaged.
