Shark Tank mentor Daymond John shared "Branding" tips for young entrepreneurs via an Instagram clip. He uploaded a reel on January 30, 2025, with the caption "SIMPLE BRANDING 101" and opened up about vital valuable information for entrepreneurs.
While sharing the reason behind his dressing styles and why he thought of changing it, the Shark Tank mentor captioned the Instagram reel with a detailed description, stating:
"SIMPLE BRANDING 101 - Always be in control of your narrative. It's been proven that people visually judge you within seconds. But here's the key: You can decide what they see or think. If you aren't intentional about what you want them to think, then you leave it up to them to interpret whatever they want."
It continued:
"So before you start pitching people or wondering what they will think about you, intentionally brand yourself by the way you appear in person or on social media. You'll be shocked at how this subtle adjustment creates a big impact. And always remember there's no one like YOU. Make them see that. Don't let the world write it for you."
Shark Tank investor Daymond John shares tips about dressing and "putting yourself" in a certain way throughout various scenarios
Shark Tank investor Daymond John, dressed up in interesting attire with a top hat, shared tips about dressing in a certain way while attending specific events and places. In the video, Daymond shared an example of how he changed his style, and his wife wondered about the same.
"Alright. You probably have the same question my wife asked me. "The hell you wearing top hats for these days????" Well, I gotta tell you, as I set goals on, um, you know, when...how I'm going to be perceived publicly you...we are complex people right. And after 16-17 years on a show you see me in suits. That's not appealing to children, right," shared Shark Tank mentor.
He further stated that while dealing with "art or children," he considered presenting himself with "top hats" and dressing up accordingly. He also mentioned that apart from that, whenever he is dealing with "outdoor stuff," he chooses to be in a "more dystopian look."
"So I said you know, "When I'm either dealing with art or children, I'm gonna do the top thing right. Gonna start seperating myself here and then. When deal with the outdoor stuff I'm gonna do more dystopian look and then when I'm doing like today, have do old school car or I'm gonna do the old school look of the fubu."
Shark Tank mentor concluded the video by sharing even more vital information for the entrepreneurs regarding how to behave throughout certain occasions. Referring to Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, he stated that people talk "one way."
For LinkedIn, it is more professional, while on social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram, individuals should "brand" themselves differently. Daymond John stated that people are "complex" and not "one person."
