Shifting Gears Season 1 Episode 9 recap: The drama at Matt's shop

Shifting Gears Episode 9 kicks off with a scene at Matt's restoration shop, where he's seen interacting with his two favorite employees—Gabriel and Stitch. Soon, the owner of the dance studio, Eve, steps in and encourages Matt to donate a free tire or something for a charity auction.
While Stitch seems interested, Matt shows no enthusiasm and goes back to his house. Meanwhile, Stitch catches up with Eve, and she tells them that she's impressed by both of them.
Since Matt isn't around, it is easy for Eve to convince the two men, and as a result, Stitch secretly donates a Shelby Mustang to a charity auction. He was supposed to test drive the car, and he thought that letting someone join wouldn’t be a big deal.
However, his plan didn't go well, and Stitch was expecting to get scolded or even fired for making such a mistake. He and Gabriel waited to talk to Matt after work.

Riley is shocked to find weed gummies in Carter's pockets

Apart from the shop drama, we see Carter asking Matt about welcoming his friends home for some enjoyment. While Riley wants to be a "cool mom", Matt worries about this hang out and says:
"I don't know if I want strange kids coming over. God knows what they're bringing in. Drugs, weapons, crackers made of seaweed, who knows what."
However, he eventually lets the boys join Carter for playing video games, but soon Riley enters the room. She's startled to see that the boys have weed gummies, and when she asks who brought them, Carter raises his hand.
He then says that the gummies fell from Riley's jacket and that he just wanted to try some. Witnessing the drama, Carter's friend leave the house, with Riley grounding her son.
She then goes to the shop and asks Gabriel and Stitch for their advice. Since Matt is also there, he suggests Riley let Carter try one gummy. She then prepares a presentation about weed, which sounds boring to Carter.

Matt eats the weed gummies in Shifting Gears Episode 9

While Riley is trying to educate her son about the side effects of weed, Matt steps in and looks quite different. He's behaving like a carefree version of himself, and Riley realizes that her father has taken some gummies.
Witnessing how weed changed his grandfather, Carter decides never to eat them. Later in the Shifting Gears episode, Stitch and Gabriel confront Matt at his house. Stitch even says that Matt can fire them because of the auction mistake.
However, Matt was still high, and he shocked his workers by praising them for the mistake. Matt also told Gabriel and Stitch to leave before he came back to his senses. While the two are confused, they are happy that Matt didn't scold them.
As the Shifting Gears episode comes to an end, Matt and Riley have a rare, unfiltered conversation. This way, the father-daughter duo gets closer as a family. However, the next day, Matt is startled to learn about Stitch and Gabriel's mistake, as the weed made him forget what he said earlier.
