The CW is soon coming out with Sherlock & Daughter, hinting that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories continue to be the top choice of television executives. The mystery drama seems to be a fresh take on the novels, as it involves the detective’s supposed long-lost daughter.

The show tells the story of Sherlock Holmes, a genius detective who is contacted by a young Native American woman named Amelia Rojas to solve the case of her mother’s murder. However, Rojas has another motive behind the move, as she wants to prove that Sherlock is her biological father.

Sherlock & Daughter will make its debut on The CW on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 9 PM ET/PT. The show will feature eight one-hour episodes, which will be released weekly. The pilot is titled The Challenge, and the season finale is named The Last Dance. In the UK, the show will be available to stream on Discovery+.

The storyline of Sherlock & Daughter

The series chronicles the life of Sherlock Holmes, who is unable to crack a case as it threatens his close friends. His archenemy, Moriarty, seems to be involved in the mystery somehow. A young woman named Amelia Rojas then reaches out to him, hoping to prove that he is her father.

The two team up to investigate a conspiracy that could cause global devastation while also solving the murder case of Rojas’ mother. The CW has released an official synopsis for the series, which reads:

The cast of Sherlock & Daughter

English actor David Thewlis stars in the lead role of Sherlock Holmes. He takes forward the legacy of actors like Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr., and Jonny Lee Miller, who have previously played the detective in various other media franchises.

Thewlis is known for playing Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter film series. He has also been praised for his performances in the shows Fargo, Landscapers, and Big Mouth. Blu Hunt plays his fellow detective and supposed daughter, Amelia Rojas.
