Sheriff Country cast and character guide: Who plays whom in CBS' Fire Country spin-off?

Sheriff Country is the new procedural drama for CBS, which is also a spinoff of the hit show Fire Country and will star Morena Baccarin and W. Earl Brown.

The spinoff series Sheriff Country’s logline reads as follows:

"Mickey Fox investigates criminal activity and patrols the streets of small-town Edgewater while contending with her ex-con father and a mysterious incident involving her wayward daughter."

Morena Baccarin’s Mickey Fox was introduced in Season 2 of Fire Country as Mickey Fox, sheriff of Edgewater and Sharon Leone’s ( Diane Farr) stepsister.

1) Morena Baccarin as Mickey Fox

Morena Baccarin has been in many popular films and TV shows. She is known for playing Vennasa Carslyle in the Deadpool movies. She has also appeared in Stargate SG-1 and Firefly. She played the role of Jessica Brody, wife of Damien Lewis’s Nicholas Brody in Homeland, for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award.

In Sheriff Country, Baccarin will play Mickey Fox, the sheriff of Edgewater. She was introduced in Season 2 of Fire Country as Sharon’s stepsister. She is also revealed to be responsible for Bode Donovan ( Max Theiriot) going to jail, which soured the relationship between the sisters.

In the spinoff show, Baccarin’s Fox will try to keep her city safe while also dealing with her personal struggles with her father and daughter, Sky, who is revealed to be in rehab due to drug addiction.

2) W. Earl Brown as Wes

Veteran actor W. Earl Brown will play the role of Wes, Mickey’s father, who lives in the mountains of Edgewater. There, he grows marijuana, about which not many people know. However, this causes friction between the father and his Sheriff daughter.

Although his character indulges in illegal activities, he is described as someone who is kind toward his family. He is a loving grandfather to his granddaughter Skye.

Sheriff Country is not the first time Brown will appear in a procedural drama as he has been in many of these crime dramas such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, NYPD Blue, CSI: Miami, Chicago Fire, and True Detective.

He has also appeared in Yellowstone and Hacks.

3) Diane Farr as Sharon Leone

Diane Farr’s Sharon Leone is the Division chief of Cal Fire and Bode’s mother in Fire Country.

She will reportedly appear in the spinoff series Sheriff Country. However, the extent of her appearance is not yet revealed. Through introducing her character, the show might delve into the complex relationships in the family, as we have already seen in Season 2, episode 6 of Fire Country.

Other than Fire Country, she has also appeared in Rescue Me as Laura Miles and Numb3rs as FBI Agent Megan Reeves.

Apart from Baccarin, Earl Brown, and Diane Farr, the show has yet to reveal the remaining cast members.

Although the spinoff was announced in the summer of 2024, CBS had been planning to expand the universe of Fire Country. In a 2023 interview with Deadline, CBS Chief George Cheeks revealed his plans. He said:

"We are focused on mass-appeal franchises. We started with expanding universes, reimagining, but also creating new franchises. And again, this season’s number one show was Fire Country, which completely lends itself to building out a whole new universe. So it is really important for us to double down on a franchise focus."

He further added:

"It became very clear that not only was the show special, it really felt like this could be a great example of us building together a franchise from scratch."

Sheriff Country is now filming for its premiere season and might debut later this year.
