In a recent interview on OutKick's "Maintaining with Tyrus," Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary slammed Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's management abilities, claiming that her district resembles a "Third World country." While praising Ocasio-Cortez's political abilities, O'Leary argued that her leadership has been detrimental to her constituency.
"She's a great politician. Let's celebrate that. Is she a bad manager? 100%. She's terrible."
Shark Tank's O'Leary himself had attempted to be a president. Back in 2017, he decided to participate in presidential elections. However, by the end of the year, he withdrew his candidacy. Though he never tried to stand for the position after that, he often shares his opinions and views on several political matters.
Kevin O'Leary, one of the billionaires, was invited to Outkick's podcast, where he talked about the American politician, AOC. During the conversation, O'Leary stated two points. He talked about how impressed he was with her political skills but questioned how AOC handles and manages her office.
Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary criticizes AOC's managerial style
Kevin O'Leary, Shark Tank's vocal investor, didn't mince words while evaluating Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's (AOC) leadership abilities. In an interview, O'Leary described AOC as "a bad manager," citing economic difficulties in her area.
Before criticizing her as a manager, Kevin O'Leary complimented Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for her amazing work in politics. However, right after he complimented her for a job well done, the billionaire raised questions about how she has been failing at managing the office.
Upon his comment, the host raised a question if his calling out AOC is personal, to which the Shark Tank OG replied,
"It's not personal, it's just business."
When the host pressed Kevin O'Leary, he praised AOC's theatrics and ability to skillfully use social media. He acknowledged that she had a solid platform and understood how to engage people, but mentioned that these qualities do not translate to effective leadership.
While she excels at commanding attention, O’Leary emphasized that her policy decisions, particularly her role in blocking Amazon’s HQ2 in Queens, have had real economic consequences for her district.
Kevin O'leary said, "She's great. She's a great politician, Let's celebrate that. Is she a bad manager? 100%. She's terrible."
The host agreed, remarking that AOC is an excellent illustration of how political power does not always translate into effective governance. He also stated that similar challenges exist throughout the political spectrum and are not unique to one party.
