That’s how director Michael Steed described Meghan Markle while filming Netflix’s latest lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan.

The show, which premiered earlier this week, has already been renewed for a second season.

The series offers a glimpse into Meghan’s world, blending cooking, heartwarming conversations, and fun moments with friends. Instead of being a polished cooking show, it embraces imperfections, showing Meghan searching for ingredients and adjusting to the kitchen.

“For me, imperfection is a wonderful thing,”

Steed said, adding:

“we didn’t try to hide anything. Watching her figure things out made it even more fun.”

Meghan’s playful side that helped everyone on set while shooting

Despite the pressure of filming a Netflix series, the set remained lighthearted. Meghan’s friendly and approachable nature made it easy for the crew to connect with her.

"She’s totally L.A., California, through and through,"

Steed noted. Her childhood spent around film sets helped her quickly bond with the crew.

"She formed a tight connection with them early on," he said.

"She understands what it means to be on set."

Although she’s not a professional chef, Meghan’s passion for cooking shines through. Steed, who observed her skills firsthand, was impressed, adding:

"Her cooking is pretty spot-on,”

“She’s not trying to be a chef, but you can feel her love for food.”

To keep the mood fun, Meghan often played music between takes.

But as the director, Steed sometimes had to step in to keep things on track.

“I was the one who had to turn the music off,”

he laughed.

“She’d call me the ‘Brooklyn Bummer’ for that.”

Given the intense public scrutiny she faces, Steed wanted the show to be a space where Meghan could relax and enjoy herself.

"People have different opinions of her, but she’s always working hard,"he said.

Steel added:

"I wanted to give her a space where she could just be herself."

While food is a big part of the series, some of the most memorable moments happen outside the kitchen. Meghan enjoys activities like flower arranging and gift wrapping, where she gets completely lost in the moment.

“The first scene we filmed was in a flower shop,”

Steed shared.

“It was fun watching her pick out flowers and seeing how she thinks.”

Each episode of With Love, Meghan explores different parts of Meghan’s life, whether she’s cooking, gardening, or even tending to a beehive. The show highlights the beauty in small moments and the joy of spending time with loved ones.
