Better Call Saul, along with its predecessor, Breaking Bad, is counted among the most iconic shows of recent years. The legal crime drama traced the journey of attorney Jimmy McGill, showcasing how he turned into Saul Goodman.

While the show’s events take place before Breaking Bad, the final few episodes surpass the original show’s storyline and showcase Jimmy in prison, where he is visited by his former girlfriend and partner-in-crime, Kim Wexler.

Following the series finale in 2022, lead actor Bob Odenkirk had an interview with Entertainment Weekly, where he talked about how he thinks Jimmy and Kim’s future would pan out after the events of Better Call Saul. The actor said he believes Kim would keep visiting the former scam artist every year.

“I think she comes to see him! I think she comes to see him once a year — every other year at the least. And I think he helps a bunch of guys in prison to get out who are innocent, or he helps shorten their sentences. He gets treated really well.”

Bob Odenkirk once revealed how Jimmy and Kim’s lives would have panned out after Better Call Saul

During the time of the interview, Bob Odenkirk also revealed that he feels Jimmy would spend his entire life in prison.

“I don't think he gets out early…-ish. I don't think he gets out. I don't know what kind of dispensation they have for an 80-year-old, but I believe they have some, once you get to be that age where you can do something else.”

He added that Jimmy would help other inmates with his legal skills, as he is an experienced lawyer who knows his way with criminals. Hence, he might make something good out of his time in jail:

“But I think he's kind of the king of the prison because he's a really, really good lawyer and a great lawyer for the kind of people in there. And he puts that to good use, probably even does some good work, like, genuinely good work.”

Further talking about Jimmy and Kim’s relationship, Odenkirk said the lawyer would want his ex-girlfriend to have a stable marriage with a guy:

“And then I think they [Jimmy and Kim] see each other and I think he thinks she should stay married to that guy and have a life. I don't know what she does, though. She doesn't seem very happy at the water place.”

Well, all of this would happen off-screen, as the final scene of Better Call Saul shows Kim giving one last look to Jimmy in prison before moving away from him. During the course of the show’s six seasons, Kim, played by Rhea Seehorn, goes from being a voice of reason for Jimmy to becoming his partner in scams. The two even get married to each other and plan a future together.

However, as Jimmy becomes Saul Goodman and gets more and more involved in the criminal world, Kim decides to step away from him. The two eventually end their marriage, after which Saul gets embroiled with Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, which explains Kim’s absence from Breaking Bad.

Created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, Better Call Saul also stars Howard Hamlin, Jonathan Banks as Mike Ehrmantraut, Giancarlo Esposito as Gus Fring, Patrick Fabian as Michael Mando as Nacho Varga, Tony Dalton as Lalo Salamanca, and Michael McKean as Chuck McGill.

Better Call Saul is available to stream on Netflix.
