Shark Tank US has become a transformative platform for countless American entrepreneurs, but there's something particularly inspiring about mothers stepping away from their daily grind to share their innovative pitches. It's truly heartwarming to witness their journeys as they strive to make it big in the world.
The show has showcased a diverse array of entrepreneurs, but today, we will introduce our readers to three remarkable 'Mompreneurs.' These incredible women captured the sharks' attention with their passion, determination, and ambitious dreams.
The first one is Chrissie Lam, joined by her mother, who was featured in Season 12 of Shark Tank with their beaded accessories brand, Love Is Project. Another 'mompreneur,' Whitney Lundeen, the founder of Sonnet James, a clothing brand for active mothers, appeared in Season 10.
Last but not least, Lisa Nguyen appeared along with her husband, Duc Nguyen, in Season 11 with their brand, Baubles + Soles, a shoe brand for kids. Out of these three mompreneurs, Chrissie Lam could not get a deal from any of the sharks. However, she did impress the sharks with her unique and heartwarming product.
Let us dive into the above three pitches in brief.
When Shark Tank US judges invested in these 'Mompreneurs' from different seasons
Despite Chrissie Lam not getting an investment from any of the sharks, she surely spread a lot of love on the sets of Shark Tank Season 12. Chrissie appeared with her mother, who helped her in the finances and operations of Love Is Project, a bead accessories company, screaming love from every corner.
Chrissie asked for $250k for 5% of the equity of her company, and to spread more positivity, empathy, and love, the founder expected the sharks to invest in her project. From working in the fashion world to creating thousands of jobs for local artisans, Chrissie's vision appeared inspirational.
However, the sharks were not impressed by the debts and the loss under which the company was, and none of them invested in Love Is Project.
Sonnet James, an apparel brand for active mothers, was presented by Whitney Lundeen in season 10. The sharks loved the texture and quality of the clothes but were doubtful about the emerging competition in the market. Whitney's ask for her baby brand was $350,000 for 25% equity.
Whitney was confident about her product and the variety it had, but she was seeking guidance from the sharks to help in increasing her profit margins. Sara Blakley found Whitney's product worth investing in, and, citing that she loved female entrepreneurs, offered her the same deal she asked for. Whitney did not wait to negotiate or for other offers and promptly took Sara's offer.
Baubles + Soles appeared in Season 11 of Shark Tank, and founders Lisa and Duc Nguyen asked for $150k for 15% of the equity in their interchangeable kid’s shoe brand. The design of the shoes was the unique point that impressed the sharks.
Offering a wide variety of designs along with functionality, slip-resistant soles, and recyclable material, Baubles + Soles founders were looking for a "strategic partner." While the other sharks pulled out of the deal, considering the shoe business a tricky area, Daymond John saw the potential of the product and counteroffered $150k for 25%.
Lisa and Duc Nguyen happily accepted the offer and left the Shark Tank with a feeling of satisfaction.
